Pack cicada looking lures
ОтветитьMine has some very very small hooks, just for catching bait.
ОтветитьThanks. I grew up using a hardline now and then. We used the wooden frame style, no storage though. Great for catching blue claw crabs. I've been thinking about rigging up something. Saw that some of the pre-made "Hobo?" type rigs cost $45-$100. That's out of my budget! So DIY is the winner.:-) NYS doesn't allow tot-lines in fresh water. Goes back to the early conservation regulations. I used trot lines in brackish water of the lower Hudson and also heard that they worked nice in the water of the NYC Watershed if well hidden.
ОтветитьI have caught everything from perch to catfish on a #4 snelled hook. I keep a couple of dozen of them in my kit. Thank you for bringing this information back up especially since fishing season has cranked up.
ОтветитьThe more it smells, the better it is - Blackie Thomas.
ОтветитьI carry fishing hooks in my wallet along with 8 ft of fishing line. I can cut a sapling down for a fishing rod. Bugs and worms make excellent bait.
ОтветитьI remember reading it somewhere that fish hooks can be also used for a bird trap
ОтветитьThanks for the useful ideas, Mr Thomas. Cheers.
ОтветитьAnother enjoyable video!
ОтветитьExellent survival fishin advice & possibly the best hobo reel ever
Cheers ✌🖖🇨🇦
Blackie I have never gone catfishing but I would like to know how to safely clean catfish could you please show us how either next catfish you catch, or one of your whiteboard classes?
ОтветитьI'm going to make me one next week when I get back and go try it out. Awesome Idea 👍👍👍👍
Ответить😀👍🎣
ОтветитьExcellent video Blackie! That's probably the best hobo reel I've seen due to the fact that it has built in storage for fishing supplies! Thanks for sharing this with us!!!
ОтветитьI haven't seen a hobo fishing kit quite like that before. It's a great idea! I am going to make one before the next camping trip.
ОтветитьWalmart carries a package of wine bottle corks 6pc to a pack, from the Mainstays brand, they might make a cool addition to the kit for a old timers/ hobo float kit, I'm all for small crappie slip bobbers though
ОтветитьI've had good luck with ròoster tails.
ОтветитьBlackie, Outstanding Video breaking down the difference in each one. Thanks Again Sir.
ОтветитьGreat value
ОтветитьWhat about what of those Auto-reels hanging from a tree branch?
ОтветитьLove it all
ОтветитьThank you for the good ideas Blackie.
ОтветитьHi Blackie, greeting from Australia 🇦🇺 thank you for your time to make these videos, we use to use the nuts and washers as sinkers , for a float we would use the cork off wine bottle, get the publican to keep the wine bottle tops .
ОтветитьI roll up the snelled hooks pack in a bandana that I use as a hatband. It's there if I need it. Could also rig up a short trotline with them.
ОтветитьBlackie, each time I watch you I seem to learn something worthwhile. Time spent on your channel is time well spent.
ОтветитьYou could not believe the ppl that won't listen about flies or smal rubber bait those hooks make a great trap too many birds made dinner and rabbit squirrels
ОтветитьThe greatest hobo real of all time! "The GHROAT!"
ОтветитьGreat information , Blackie. I wanted to put together a survival fishing kit, but wasn't sure of what all to put in it. More simple than I thought. Thanks! 👍🏻🎣
ОтветитьGood stuff Blackie.
👌
Cool deal Blackie. I like it. I have a fishing setup from one of your other survival/bushcraft comrades. Several of my Cub Scouts recently caught several fish on a campout. Great time
Ответитьyour haversack tin can use a few sinkers Blackie!
ОтветитьBlackie the art work on the title pages is awesome. Who is the artist and how could I get prints.
ОтветитьLol, i built a little kit out of one of those green collagens pill shaped capsules and then i got one of those Sulkada gimmicks we found on amazon. The Sulkada has a little hobo reel in it😂 with a hook and weight. It is still a gimmick, but it does have a few useful parts
ОтветитьGREAT video! I’ll be making a hobo fishing kit like that real soon! And the snelled hooks are a great idea for the survival kit!
ОтветитьThanks B.😊
ОтветитьI carry a salt water hook just to make a improvised gaff hook..can make the difference in getting them on the bank..learn something from you on every video..thanks blackie!
ОтветитьDoes anyone actually know how to contact Blackie by email, his videos get so many hits...he might not read all replies? Just wondering.
ОтветитьGood tips all, Blackie! Thanks!
ОтветитьExcellent 😊
Ответить🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Ответитьcool. i learned something
ОтветитьNice but I thought you southern boys all noodle fish…have fun stay safe.
ОтветитьThanks Blackie.
Ответитьmy first ice fishing poles where home made ones by my dad outta cut up hockey stick. cut the blade off. put in a couple of nails or wood screws to hold the line. had black braid on it. think that was 25 lb for the hvy pole.
ОтветитьGreat video, I use a tic tac container for my survival fishing kit to put my hooks line and sinkers in it works for me
ОтветитьGreat video. I always learn something new and see something I want to try out. Thanks. I have a Hobo rod made of a short piece of pvc pipe. I have caps on the ends. One end has my lanyard. I keep my fishing supplies inside. I have made some and gave them as presents.
ОтветитьI've used artificial sinue ,taken down thin, and bank line on some loose hooks I had and made a hand line.
The fish were biting good and I caught as many creek bluegill as my buddy with a pole. Good times, and proof a simple set up can work I a good spot
All my camping trips are fishing trips. However, I travel around everyday with a 3 piece Shimano Raider travel rod, a Shimano Elf spinning reel holding 6lb line and a small lure box. The box features lures, hooks, swivels, sinkers, soft plastics and hooks for them. All up weight less than 5 pounds. Took it to Croatia and Egypt and used over there.
Still your hobo rig is intriguing.
thanks for watching ...safe journeys!!
