Bill,

This is an awesome video. It helped me learn how to re-pin a Master Pro 6121 to have serrateds and spoorateds in all 6 of its holes. I just wonder if the Pro Series are susceptible to bypass attacks and if putting wafers on them would help prevent such an attack.

Again, thanks for the awesome videos and have a great 2016!

Jason

will these wafers work on asus 72/40 wich has the same bypass problem and, i believe, same core dimensions?

Might be easier if you glue the wafers together. Just enough to keep them from accidentally separating during assembly. Just make sure it dried first!

I'm very novice and this may be a stupid question but why not put a small stainless steel pin in 6 not enough to effect the key but enough to stop the bypass tool with it having to be so precise..... Hope this isn't too ignorant of a question... Great vids thanks

Great video. If the lock company would manufacture a single, ticker waffle would do the trick instead of adding 2, 3, or 4 .

what about gluing the wafers together with epoxy before putting them in I would use a Kevlar reinforced epoxy and a pair of vise grips to hold them while the epoxy dries simple wax paper would be needed to prevent the grips from sticking to the wafers

I learnt how to bypass some ordinary locks & I had to cut a lock with a grinder to see how it works (where to aim). I did found an extra hole but sadly these locks cannot be re-keyed :(

bill, have an idea for you, more of a challenge really and more for fun and a mental exercise than anything. it woud be interesting to see if you havent already done it to comprehensively improve a masterlock from its basically cosmetic default setting to something actually useful. like re-coring it to something that doesnt just open when you sneeze with a tension wrench in your hand as well as the addition of a shackle guard of some sort that would protect against bolt cutters. can you do it? not should you or is it worth it, but can it be done. if you want to do the labor, i will provide the materials up to a certain expense level, obviously after a certain point it becomes dumb but im just having some fun here.

You should do a video on lock maintenance. If you have one outside, do you need lube? Grease, graphite? leave it dry? I had a lock on a shed get quite stiff to open with the key, I ended up using a syringe to shoot ptfe grease into the keyway till it came out around the shackle and it was a lot easier to operate. Does this make a lock easier to pick? Pins move slower so either more or less resistant to bumping? Thanks :)

the sixst unused pin hole is there for the same reason the new nintendo wii's have holes on the top even though there are no ports. In simple terms, essentially when you've already printed a shit load of templates even if you have no use for all the sockets, it's just cheaper to keep it then to make a whole new template. It's like if you made a layout for let's say a laptop, and it came with a dvd player, but you no longer put the dvd player's in the laptops in the newer models. WELL you're still probably gonna use the old layout, it's just cheaper to keep the whole where it used to be then to remove it altogether

It is only five pins because they sell the same lock for 2 dollars more with the six pin core.  For example you can buy the A5260 padlock for 26.00 or you can buy the A6260 for 28.00.

I have 2 series 700 locks that I would like to have "toughened up" I am not a locksmith. Is there a way to have this done by a professional or would it be considered not cost effective???

When I was in the USMC we had a confidential storage area that was protected by a super high security armored padlock on a stamped metal hasp with the screw heads on the outside. The padlock was an excellent lever to twist off the hasp.

Surely a dab of Grease on the disks would hold them in place as the barrel was fitted?

I'm kind of late to viewing your videos, but I find them very interesting.

I do have one question regarding the ability to bypass the locks. It appears that is made possible because the cam on the actuator is only a quarter cam. Is there any reason for that?

If it were a half cam to match the half cam on the cylinder, there would be no place for the actuator to rotate to when the cylinder was bypassed.

Am I missing something?

You should check out my videos mate! They are from Sweden and probably the best in quality I have ever seen. You should get one I have mine on my desk every day! I also made a video about that padlock. I didn't know that about the Abus where can I get it?

Very good information again! I never really thought about the bypassing issue. But I would just spent a couple more bugs on a decent Abloy or Anchor Las padlock. I don't think you can bypass those but would be interesting to know if actually can't.
