this guy just had the intangibles. if you’ve ever played sports you know stats don’t tell the whole story. especially as a shortstop in new york

The era of fans being able to take away hits or outs is by catching balls in play is by far the best era. Home field advantage isn’t just about the players.

Me and a friend of mine talked why you could connect to these players better than in today's game. Did they live the life I live? Of course not. They are more of an athlete than I will ever be, they dated Supermodels, they made millions as well, just like today. But you had the feeling that they wanted to beat our rivals just as bad as we did. Would I go full speed into the seats to beat Boston? Of course I would, but I also dont have a potential 250 million dollar free agency deal coming up. I would sit at my office desk with a swollen knee. Jeter was going full speed, he would have gone through a brick wall against Boston. And that bond is what is missing in today's sport.

He is my all-time favorite yankee player. If you look at his career stats, they are really insane how good he was. He finished his 20 year career with .310 avg, .377 obp and .817 ops but in his prime, he was more like .320 avg, .400 obp and .875 ops. He also helped tremendously with his defense and stolen bases too. Most importantly is that he performed in the playoffs too. His regular season stats mirror his playoff stats. We see too many awesome regular season players struggle in the playoffs. Robinson Cano has hall of fame stats but he hit like .200 in the playoffs so I never trusted him to get a clutch playoff hit. Shame how Cano's career turned.

They still missed many . During the 2000 WS, when the Mets Ziele hit a ball that hit the top of the left field wall, and the Mets Timo Perez, (on 2nd base), watches the ball thinking it was a HR, and gets a late start running home that would have tied the game (b-8, i think),

And Jeter caught a bad throw from the left fielder and gunned out Perez while running towards the 3rd base dugout,

It was Absolutley amazing, It was almost as good as the flip throw

I always liked how Jeter brushed off missing the HoF by unanimous decision by 1 vote. He was like I don't know why people care so much about how I feel about it. He could care less because it doesn't mean a f*cking thing.
