Oooooof.... Lying for years about what they were making being world leading, 'better than what those other devs have done with things like the nemesis system' in 2015 and yet a decade later the reality is that they are removing their NPC AI until maybe after 1.0, they're retreating from their pitch about a 90% NPC driven world because they're just not capable of delivering what they sold, and the stuff on live is worst in class braindead even with server meshing.

I like the pitch of "will be part of your legend, similar to discovering [a new] star system. So do we know who is the legend who discovered Pyro? The universe is huge and full of opportunities, 3 more star systems left. :)

Love how many times they say "there's going to be" or "you will be able to". The places I've worked at in the industry all had a policy of never ever saying anything concrete that could be construed as a promise, unless it was already in the game and working. But I guess crowdfunding turn the incentives upside down.

According to a press report about a week ago, there were massive layoffs and changes at CIG to replace development people, including very senior positions with 12 years in the company. It will soon be known which managers and new personnel with greater competence and knowledge will join the CIG. According to Chris Robert, the future of Star Citizen is at stake and that is why he must replace Jobs (Excuse my English)

Except a.i just t-poses when theres more than 20 people around and the gameplay sinks into a buggy lag hole of crashes. I bet if they add more systems for the servers to compute, more detail for the next marketing campaign, the acient spaghetti code will smoothen out proper like they say.

A few of these compilations and others alike should be mandatory to watch for every new wanna-be backer before they actually put money into this even for just a starter pack.
If only more people would actually know, and even damn care, about CIG continously telling untruths or grossly overestimating and underdelivering on their own goals and targets...I could see this project to have come down and bust quite a while ago already.

Something I've learned about CIG. They'll say anything that will hype everyone up to buy things. Anything. Those who hear their words ASSUME that they actually know what they're talking about and may even already be working on it. They don't and they're not. They're just saying things that sound cool but they're not even sure they can do them.

Started working in QA in 2003. Studied a bit of computer science from 2006-2008, but didn't continue. Went back to QA from 2008 to 2010. Continued to do some producing and design. Then switched to design entirely in a quality perspective role overseeing and approving milestones, deliverables and managing design change requests. I have never ever seen a more chaotic and unfocused development in my entire life. Constant change of responsibilities, constant shifting of resources, features being added without any goal or measure of criteria that would define them as done. Talk of tier1 BS. Refactoring of stuff over and over without any application of key learnings. How on earth is a dev in this studio maintaining their sanity? You do X for 4 weeks, then you're moved to Y for 3 weeks, then you go to Z for 4 weeks, then another department changes stuff that completely breaks what you did on X. 3 months later, QA tells you it's broken. Noone knows why. Someone goes through the history of check-ins to find out who broke what. Emails probably getting send back and forth, trying to find the right person to deal with the problem. If that person even still works at CIG. Lack of experience, so juniors get put in senior positions. The whole pipelines give me a big vibe of utter madness. All the while no one seems to be in charge of reviewing and approving designs against a set criteria of internal dependencies or MMO user experience requirements.
This company looks like it's a total mess.

CIG definitely took it to 'a whole notha level'....just a level below.

NPC crew was also quietly killed in a boardroom meeting with no acknowledgement until someone on Spectrum asked about it. And I know this was something a lot of people on the fence were saying might bring them in but were understandably skeptical we'd get anytime soon.

They were right.
