Every programmer admitting that the end goal is to live a peaceful life out on a farm is just so funny to me

Coding java in vim is kind of like going to the forest blindfolded.

But thanks to that, even though you stumble a lot, at some point it'll click to you to stop using suggestions, auto refactoring and other autodoers. You'll be thinking more about your codebase and less about using ide to do stuff for you. But it will be worth it, because you will be learning. You will notice that you no longer click randomly and be angry, you will pinpoint your wrongdoings more accurately, you will know config files, placement of them, you will have a map of your tests in your mind, like carved with knife in hardwood.
You will purposefully write imports, which you never did before. You will go to your pom.xml and you will write dependencies with your fingers, so you will know what packages you just enabled to your codebase.

It's like going shopping for milk instead of ordering it from the shop. You get to remember how the pavement looks like, you get to experience the weather, the wind, the noises. But you also need to thing about the trip, maybe it can be shorter? Maybe you look for the wrong milk or wrong shop? You will now be the decisive factor about the milk and the shop and the trip. You will know that road and other roads to the shop better. You will know prices in each shop, you'll get to know more about the town.

So next time someone asks for ordering milk, you'll just know that he/she will order stupid thing, you know where to get better and cheaper milk and you know you can get there quicker.

Some day you will be the one deciding about that milk.

It will slow you down so much, that you will doubt that it will be worth it. And you might be right, but you also can believe that you will succeed and push through so much, that it will make you just sharper. Knife hitting the rock once or twice will dull it, but consistently hitting it at the right angle will make its blade possible to even split single strand of hair.

configs breaking is the reason i went to DOOM Emacs. feels nearly the same, but you only need to uncomment a few config lines to get a working C++ LSP that doesn't rebind code completions from Tab to Ctrl-N randomly (thanks kickstart very cool). sadly Vim Ctrl-A / Ctrl-X are overridden and "w" stops on dashes, but otherwise identical to my old NeoVim's behavior

* Hulk Hogan’s mustache put to shame * -> is just one like really enough…!?

Man this couldn't be more true. I'm at my late Lazyvim stage now, and some things start to bother me. I'm adding plugins and which-keys to use them, but it feels off. It feels like drinking 0% alcohol beer.

The best programmer I currently know doesn't use the mouse. He uses touchpad. You cannot outpace him in any way, because typing never was a bottleneck.

my full size keyboard is around 50% bigger than 60% keyboard
and if you where to use 2 60% keyboards youd be able to press d with right hand and k with left hand
can't really do that with a split keyboard

I still worship at the Church of emac but with evil mode. At the end of the day, it gives you the best of both worlds and it can act as an operating system if you need it. The rage pinkies are real thing by the way, at least until you use a split keyboard. Instead you get rage thumbs.
