ОтветитьPound cake is wonderful. Pour fruit sauce over it. But plain is wonderful, also. Auntie, I make a good pound cake. The butter and eggs are the secret. I like to use a bit of lemon juice and zest. I agree with Auntie. It can be made with a lot less sugar.

They also freeze well.
Most do not have a glaze or buttercream frosting, but can be enjoyed plain or served with fruit like berries or peaches, absorbing their juices... or topped with sweetened whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.
Anyway you serve it, pound cake is dellicious and versatile! (Don't forget to try it toasted and buttered.) 😋

ОтветитьWe used to make a dessert using a slice of pound cake topped with a scoop of Whipped Cream in the middle of the cake then a peach half on top of the Whipped Cream so it resembled its name egg on toast! Easy and so good!
