Before I feed hay to my rabbits I sift the dust out of it. Esp.as I get towards the bottom of a bag. In this video I am sifting orchard grass. I've read that the dust is not good for a rabbit's respiratory system and since I have had a lot of respiratory and ear issues with my four bunnies I try to do everything I can to minimize the risk that they will get sick. I've learned from a video by "Lennon the Bunny" that explains how lop rabbits were bred to have shorter, "cuter" noses and floppy ears which is actually a problem for the bunnies because it sets them up for more health problems. Specifically ear and respiratory as I have experienced first hand with my bunnies who all appear to have some lop in them. Hops is definitely the most" purebred" lop I have and he has had the most health problems... So glad I never bred him! I saw Lorelei's video shortly after I neutered him. I was so happy I had finally made that decision. I had actually waited a year and a half to neuter him because I was afraid of him going into surgery and also wishing I could breed him because he is so cute. Now that I know more about the history of lops I would have felt so guilty about breeding more. Esp. since there are so many bunnies out there already who are not getting the proper care.
