Not too expensive… The $55 a day for training would add up quick Especially if you plan on staying there for any extended period

Very affordable. Daily vacation trips in the US are at least double that. The hotel will be at least $150/night when I travel.

I have that exact same cat on the beach but bred with a Savanah so he's twice as big.That's a fishing cat and it's from a tropical jungle so I guess he's right at home on the beach.

Good you posted this video as i always wonder about prices. I think that if you stay longer time, the price per day will drop, ex. Like staying in a hostel or going to one dojo and paying a monthly fee instead of one day in different dojos because the price per day will always be more. But still, is very affordable.

My trip was 8 days, just under $900 plus air fair. Close to the same price. Not having a rental car is the main difference, because I was part of a large group and we had hotel buses and other group transport.

For us butter stinkers, we need to know about securing a visa (cost and procedure); Japanese driver's license (do they accept International on Okinawa?); getting Yen for US dollars (best place); and then there are some cultural questions. How are Americans in general greeted in Okinawa (US servicemen causing issues), and what are the language barriers I might encounter? How much does an interpreter cost, and is it worth it? My usual expenses for two weeks Okinawa from Germany are about 1500€. Plain ticket, accomodation, food, izakaya, presents and daily practice included. Usually I go around by bicycle (left one folding bike in Okinawa) or by bus. If you have a teacher in Okinawa, the usual fee for all your regular dojo lessons is what Okinawans pay for one months training, around 5,000 Yen. Private classes go extra though. At some dojo you don't need to pay for lessons as an official associate member. Some dojo also offer accomodation for their foreign members for a low fee. I try to cook and eat at the place where I stay, just sometimes restaurant. Also there are a lot of good bento options at supermarkets or convenience stores. So your expenses differ a lot if you come as a karate 'tourist' or as a student and member of an Okinawan organisation and dojo.

This is very affordable. Plus since you don't do such a trip on short notice you can plan ahead and check out different prices and so on. It shows clearly that teaching bujutsu in okinawa is not primarily focused on making cash. It's been twenty years since I went to the Ryu Kyu Islands. It is about time to visit Okinawa again. Osu

It was a little expensive for the several times I’ve gone to Okinawa, but only because of the plane tickets from the USA and of course several souvenirs. The actual food, lodging, etc., was very reasonable. But it was sooooo incredibly worth it. I wouldn’t have traded those trips for anything. It changed my karate.

Did you by chance visit a Uechi Ryu Dojo? I studied (brown belt) before moving a while ago - wondering how you found it vs shotakan.

I'd love to go to Okinawa just only to train Shorin Ryu Karate.
