The last thing we need with our economy right now is a money sink such as additional military spending , we are in no immediate danger of any wars right now but we are in danger of becoming a stagnant economy, with one of the lowest gdp growths in all of Europe terrible economy equality across regions (cough cough London) we have trump wanting to impose import tariffs which will also hurt our economy and our new labour government just raised our new budget on every day items which will lower the amount of money each household can reinvest into the economy. What will happen when we get into an irreversible deficit? With a major war on the horizon, all three services need to be strengthened, and they need common sense as much as they need money. We also need to be self sufficient so far as possible in food and fuel. Churchill said the only thing that really frightened him in WW2 was the U-boat campign, which came close to cutting off vital supplies of food and fuel. We must therefore stop driving farmers out of business and use our oil resources wisely. A new field is being explored off Scotland, but when exploration is completed perhaps we should hold it in reserve for the rainy days that are sure to come. We have a few small oilfields on land, and these might be he best ones to keep in reserve. Without fuel and food we are done for however strong our forces..
