Another great video! So true! It's important to not forget that "mindset" is just a fancy word for "attitude". I love how you interpret mindset as STRATEGY. That makes a whole lot of sense! And I couldn't agree more. You are the average of the 5 people you spent most time with. The problem is really that we often lose track of this process. And so sometimes we end up in a place with too many negative, dysfunctional people and we wonder how we got there. So self-awareness and opening our eyes to our environment is so important! Thank you Gary! 😃👍🏼

Working With Family, who is negative and not a good work environment. I love them been working with them upcoming 7 years. How do I know when to step away? Hard to when the team is small too.. Stuck with this for a long time and haven't gotten closer to the answer. I feel obligated to stay what doesn't help. Anyone have advice? Thank you anyone who reads this, been a long tough journy mentally.

7 habits of highly successful people..its 100% true...once i changed who my chicle of influence was my life stared change instantly..its not gonna be instant either it takes some serious digging into your self...but once you have done it, its feels so ffing good and liberating ....patience is a start.....

I literally have no one in my day to day life except a special needs incarcerated husband. (Unless you count the occasional Lyftdriver that doesn't speak.) That's why I consume so much Gary Vee content. This positivity is what I surround myself with.

I've been practicing this and really grasping what you mean by this. I've noticed myself recognizing what and who I need to steer away from... things I never noticed before. Everytime someone tries to vent to me that they're broke, I refuse to listen to it and basically tell them they need to figure it out. My boyfriend gets mad at me for not comforting him when he's upset about it. If I comfort them, I'm enabling them and I refuse to do that to anyone anymore, even if it means being alone!

If you are interested in learning how to build optimism yourself read below.


Gary is completely correct, osmosis is a very powerful way to transform your mindset. You have to remember, your mindset is built by the habits of your thoughts. Positive people very rarely spew out negativity instead they reframe potentially negative situations into positive. This is why the more you are around positive people, the more good habits you'll be building for yourself. Keep in mind. Negativity is our brains default go to. It is why it is so prevalent these days, you have to be persistent in maintaining a relentlessly positive mind.



Not a lot of positive people in your life, what else can you do? Practising cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) every night is perhaps one of the best ways to start. I do it myself every night. There are lots of platforms, I personally use Byron Katie's, but you can find your own there are plenty of free resources on the topic. Every day I'll write down any negative thoughts or behaviours I have and at the end of the day choose one which is the most prevalent, you'll find a lot are connected. You then do the work on that negative habit. It only takes 20 minutes, but this simple practice is all you need to slowly improve your mindset every day. Until one day you'll find that you've compounded so many positive habits you have very few negative, if any at all. You'll feel grateful, more alive, happy, it feels amazing not to be trapped in a negative cycle. Best of all you can share it with others to help them too.


As an additional note, meditation fits into this too. A person like Gary who has already cultivated a positive mindset doesn't need meditation as much since they aren't actively trying to catch negative habits. Meditation is useful for becoming aware of your negative habits when they occur. Usually, we are so caught up in our emotions and thoughts we forget that they are separate from who we actually are. Practising meditation allows you to catch yourself during these times and become aware of these thoughts or emotions enough to write them down. Initially, you may find it very difficult to do this, but keep practising and it will happen for you over time. Sam Harris has a great meditation app called "Waking Up" which you can access for free if you're running low on cash.


As stated above. These are compounding habits. They don't happen overnight. As Gary says, have persistence and a long term goal and you will start to notice the difference I promise you.
