people need to seriously get their priorities straight when it comes to discrimination against disabled people they spent all their time and energy throwing a hissy fit about "dErOgAtOrY sLuRs" like "retard" "moron" "spaz" "gimpy" and especially "Derpy" all in the name of "political correctness" when it's all just over-sensitivity and self entitlement meanwhile there are bigger issues like how prosthetics wheelchairs sunglasses hearing aids etc. are treated as luxury items and certain places not having proper wheelchair access especially houses and how people are against cars in favor of public transportation people need to educate themselves and grow up! I'm a disabled person myself but I have bigger and more serious issues to deal with instead of certain words this whole controversy over a character like Derpy Hooves is just stupid

Honestly I think Derpy is of normal intelligence but may have autism or something like that. I understand censoring Derpy's name, not that I agree with it, but the showrunners were probably at the mercy of the executives who wanna keep karens, parents, shareholders, ect. happy. What I don't understand is why her voice had to be changed. Do disabled people really talk like that? Not quite, but it's voice acting for a cartoon, it's supposed to be exaggerated. And plus, most fans just saw her as clumsy and neurotypical...

Im also disabled, with eye problems just like her. I never liked calling her "Derpy" as i never saw her as a "Derpy" character- she was just simply disabled like me. I always liked Bubbles or Muffins (her canon name) as it suited her better.

I don't know derpy all that well, but I dont see anything wrong with her. I actually like her derpy expression, and her clumsy lifestyle. I kind of relate to her a little. Plus she's cute lol

I never see anyone point out how in the edit, Rainbow Dash goes from sounding annoyed with Derpy to sounding babying. I don't know, that to me seems more offensive than the original portrayal, like someone who's different needs to be coddled (though I don't personally see her as mentally disabled but just clumsy and a little airheaded). Her original voice will always be my favorite since it wasn't a typically feminine sounding voice which made it unique among the cast, but her later voice is pretty good too.

I never knew about any of this and just called her "Derpy" from her eyes since that's what we called being cross-eyed in our house. She was probably one of my favorite characters, if I'm honest-
