Volvo reveal price and range for Chinese made EX30 EV in America

I can't find out if Volvo EVs can take Over The Air updates that can fix all the things that Tesla can through them.
Sure they can get updates but their website used the words "general updates". I take that to mean that maybe they can update what controls or games come up on the screen.... but can they fix things like brake controllers and seat belt tensioners, etc. like Tesla can and does?
Anyone know?

I believe they are making the EX30 in their Belgium plant for the USA.

Sandy Monroe was just on "Autoline After Hours". He was pretty clear that the OEMs are finished. He also said that the US tariffs won't help the OEMs catch up as they don't know how to make these EVs cheaply enough and feature rich enough to be competitive. He indicated that all the tariffs will do is slightly postpone the day of reckoning.

It needs to be about 1/2 the price of a Tesla if they want to sell it here in the US. Electric cars are still a niche market and the Tesla brand is too strong.

I would really like to buy the LFP based model here in Australia, but unfortunately the more affordable version isn't available here. 😞

Need to get rid of these idiotic tariffs, it is only hurting consumers and stoping people from affordable EVs when we need to stop burning gas ASAP.

The Ex30 has the same body frame as its brother the Zeekr X.. I'll buy the Zeekr X instead..cheaper and better interior..just different brand tag. 😊

I'm seeing on their site in the u.s. 46k and 47k for AWD. I'm waiting for the rwd for a better deal

If it's the same price like the Tesla there's no point of buying it.

Tesla has the US market to themselves, thats why its a $Trillion dollar company now. No one will buy these with the 100% markup.

That’s a shame about the range and charging speed. Otherwise it seems to have a lot going for it. Slow-mid charging speed, and subpar range. That’s a bad combo.

Zeekrs in San Francisco, Chinese-made Polestars all over. Geely exploits a loophole in US law that gives them credit for exporting gas cars they make in the US.

Ev will have to compete with ice without government force. They will lose…

the Volvo's no buttons and knobs policy is a big no for me. It is not safe to dig stupid, basic options in the system.

Useless EVs. Viking will never tell you that best selling in China are EREVs which are extended range PHEV.

Several issues. #1 Servcing the cars. Getting parts or service in the U.S. won't be possible in most areas. #2 Trump already said he will apply massive tarrfis and the E.U. will also to proect the car manufacting. I think the E.U. especially in lower income EU states will allow them in. But the U.S. won't.

China will pressure elon to get EV tariffs in US reduced to EU levels. They have huge leverage now as Tesla sales in China are critical to its bottom line.

Zeeker is not available in the US. So the Volvo is not competing against it, but the rest of the soon to be has been's. And the WLPT is far more generous than the testing in the US.

If Trump really wants to collect tariff for revenue, he should reduce the EV tariff to around 30%, because then people would actually import those. At 100%, there is little to no import and then tariff revenue is close to 0.

Not so fast, Viking, ...where is Volvo getting that software? If the software is Chinese, it can't be imported from Belgium. That's why VW is partnering with Rivian for North America. BTW, I think Elon Musk actually likes Jim Farley, and wants Ford to succeed(...?) Not like GM, where Mary Barra is so screwed with the Trump/Musk team.

Drove the yellow EX30 at the Sydney EV show. They quoted A$77k driveway
It wasn’t luxurious
and also very small
and pretty slow for an EV
Prefer the much bigger Tesla Model Y for $61k drive away

Volvo say they sell out but they sell out in batches of a couple hundred so not a big seller

Does this mean it will also be coming to Canada? I hope so, this is high on my list for my next car purchase.

My EX30 order was completed and selected out of a prebuilt stock within 2 days.
My VIN for North American delivery (NEBRASKA, USA) begins with a "Y" leading me to believe it is European-built, no?

Just when I canceled my preorder, but have not got my deposit back.

Good to see more affordable EV's coming to the US.

I cancelled my EX30 preorder about a year ago, so I could get 2 used EVs for the family for the same price. Out of the blue, Volvo called me last Saturday evening and left a message letting me know that there were thousands of them coming in to the USA and that they need to be sold by the end of this year and are offering good deals. I didn’t call them back because it would be too tempting. If I could afford it, I would definitely buy one of these.

A more relevant and exciting announcement would be if it offers bidirectional charging.
