Ive always wondered why the 16 valve models were still called "GS" in the U.S, all other markets called the 16 valve models "GSX" only the older 8 valve ones are known as "GS". Maybe it was a copyright issue, some other manufacturer was using the GSX name in N America.🤷‍♂

I remember the GSX1100 very well, that beast was not the bike for the beginners. It has way too much torque in the low range and, in second gear, It would break traction on the slightest provocation, so there was pretty good chance to end up in the ditch if you are not VERY careful with the throttle...

For anybody who might have some parts laying around: Im looking for a set of gold sidecovers, in good condition, just like the ones on this bike.

My 1st was a ' 83 GS550E. Fun thing. And then I was able to afford an FJ1100. All great bikes. The FJ was terrible for overheating in traffic though. I lusted after the 1100E though I think it would have been similar to the FJ. Seeing 'historic' on that plate makes me feel old probably because I am. Great memories of those things. My current stable: '23 FXLRS and '06 YZFR1. I love seeing these things.
