I've pretty much written off the idea of modern mobile gaming at this point. The only mobile games I have on my phone are Game Boy Color / Advance emulators now.

i feel like if controller support was more available for games on mobile, i'd be more likely to play mobile games.

I'd highly recommend Arknights for a proper mobile game with substantial amounts of content, including THREE roguelike modes right now, which don't cost anything to play, not even the usual ingame stamina. It's a full-blown tower defense style tactical game with one of the most depressing stories in gaming. If you want lore and proper storytelling, this is it. One of the major side event stories was even praised by folks who worked on Baldur's Gate 3 for just being extremely good as a standalone experience. And the nice thing? All those (often very long - like, novel-length) side stories from events remain in the game and can be cleared by latecomers, too. No FOMO there.

The story made me cry more times than I dare admit, and the themes of oppression of people due to illness, an entire race's ostracization which spiralled them into living for war while really just craving a proper home to return to, and just generally sad moments throughout, really strike home. Even the villains tend to be just, you know, people who made terrible decisions, or suffer from trauma.

Plus, the game is very much tacti-cool. Yes, there are beach skins, but I'd argue none of them are actually sexualized, and everything has a sense of practicality to it. It's not at all horny.
The gacha aspect is also very tame, with only a handful of characters actually being limited, the rest stay in the pool and can be traded for tokens eventually.

It also has one of the only gacha anime adaptations that were on point - you can watch the currently available two seasons of the anime and skip ahead a few chapters in the story, and in the process pass up on some of the more bumpy early translations.

....and the music is just absolutely fantastic. New 6* characters get their own unique EP dropped on release, based around their personality and background, and my playlists these past few years have been filled with these tracks. Adam Gubman and co are pulling it off time and again, across all manner of genres.

The smutty game genre seems as weird as smutty YA literature atm that's popping off. Just for funsies, I read Varros' Fourth Wing, that's supposedly smutty. 99% of the book is just a regular fantasy adventure of sorts. Smut comes in at like the final 10% of the book anyways. Before that, the MC barely says a few curse words. I'm kind of worried about people who call this smutty. Just edging to get people through the book. It'd be a fine book without the smut too, just wouldn't get the attention it does now.

Jessie Gushing over Romancing SaGa 2 for 10 minutes straight is great, I just love "If I'm going to play a game on stream I'm doing it on easy" followed by "So anyways play SaGa on Hard so time won't kill you" and just loving every moment of being a ruler, just perfect~

I think the weird mobile ads are basically two things (maybe more)
1. evoke negative emotion - hornyness, dislike, frustration, disgust, insecurity; any negative emotion which can be satisfied through sex, fake confidence/achievement, selfcare/looksmaxxing, and so on
2, targeting all people. Not only gamers, but whatever unlucky person that is baited into getting consumed by a predatory gameloop / business model combination.

If it makes Jesse and Dodger feel better, Hololive is the most unidol-like "idol" group out there. They really don't care too much about conforming to the idol culture expectations here. It's a joke for some of them to be "un-seiso" like, like them playing Ark recently and them making such a big joke out of one of them getting "pregnant" that it hit #2 trending on formerly known as Twitter in Japan. One of them straight up played on a GTA RP server directly interacting with guys breaking that whole "don't even breath in the same space as a guy" junk, etc things like that.

Guardian Tales is a pretty cool mobile game. the characters are good, it plays well with a touch screen. And they also released it for the Nintendo Switch.

I find with hentai games you have two camps. Some people essentially just want the image immediately as if they were google searching, while others actually like getting really attached to the characters as that make the images more meaningful.

NIKKE's story being so good would probably not diminish too much without the marketing, but one of the major themes being a system where an underclass of women soldiers and servants that most don't consider people but weirdos, good and bad, find sexy meshes so well with it being sold as a waifu gacha

Death of the Reprobate is the 3rd in a trilogy. The first two are "Four Last Things" and "The Procession to Calvary". The dev is known for making hilarious point and click games. He also made "the preposterous awesomeness of everything". They are hilarious and I recommend them all.
