Why do people praise this??... Its not even Star Wars.... you got surfaced level one dimensional characters, there's zero fantasy elements, it's very boring, lacks wonder, and what ever happened to just plain old "fun" there is no fun in either season... I could care less about these characters....Bring back good Fantasy Star Wars! I watch Star Wars to escape reality and go on an adventure not to see how similar it is to our lives cause its NOT, its a LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR AWAY, Its Star Wars for god sake...

While Andor is "only" two(2) seasons, it's basically 6 to 7 big budget movies.

I am still watching season 2 right now. Had to get my wife to watch season 1 first, so we watched that and now on to season 2. It is really smart. I love how this show does 3 things extremely well.
1. It makes the empire/galaxy real made out of real people doing non NPC things.
2. It showed there are a bunch of cool diverse planets in the galaxy. They feel like real places where people would choose to jump on a spaceship and go live.
3. It shows the rebels and a bunch of disorganized pockets with little direction fighting each other until events bring them together into a cohesive unit.

I’ll take it further. Rogue One + Andor is the best Star Wars experience. Personally, I didn’t think Star Wars was much of anything except an overhyped and mediocre blockbuster franchise until Rogue One. Although, I did always respect the very first Star Wars film in 1977, so connecting Rogue One into that one was the best choice.

I think it could get maybe get a nom or not, but took 5 eps to get going. I did like that they finally did 45min eps instead of the 25 nonsense. Just wish they had more in here between the 2 seasons to flesh out characters and story. Cost so much and won't bring in the subs for the cost i don't think

DATA: The Acolyte budget 230M / 8 episodes (28.75M per episode when it seems each episode cost 1M) Andor 650M / 24 episodes (27.08M per episode when each episode seems like 50M)

Never agreed with someone wholeheartedly with what you said John. I'm still at the point where I'm re-watching the last 5 eps and scouring online for some Andor love. I liken this Andor period to LoTR when it was released. The hype, the reception and hopefully its laurels to come.

This is what I thought the halo show should have been. We, the audience, are master chief. We know his story during the games because we played it. The halo show should of been set during the years leading up to the covenant war or during it but following odst's, oni operatives, maybe sgt. Johnson, the colonists but the Spartan's should of been left out or used like a tank. A set peace, a visual or a macguffin. Not as a main character. In later shows or seasons you could add a Spartan character or squads but it shouldn't of leaned on the master chief like it did.

Andor is actually 8 arcs, each the length of a 2 hour+ movie. $650 million is actually pretty cheap for 8 (really good) Star Wars movies. It's also fun watching the Kennedy haters when they start to understand what she does as opposed to the stuff they thought she does in their head.

What I love about Andor is, it well written, fits the original movies perfectly, it’s filmed absolutely beautifully, the cloves is beautiful made and looks fashionable. Rouge One is even better now and it was the only star wars movie, that IMO felt like Star Wars.

how does the viewership translate to subscribers to Disney+ which is where I imagine the real ROI is for a show like this. Did it reduce churn of existing subscribers while increasing new subscribers. Increasing LTV while decreasing CAC. Does anyone know? This also explains why we haven't gotten new movies since ROS. I imagine Lucasfilm gets a specific annual budgets for development of content.

I don't think you can equate it to traditional production budgets since this streaming show probably has no backend deals so everyone's fee will be frontloaded and higher.

I'd love to see a Rogue Squadron series (pre or post ROTJ) that expands the storylines of the Rebellion or New Republic, with new characters and locations. I think that to me is one of the better things about Andor - they didn't rehash things that had been done before.

Dunno if that $650 million was well spent, but it definitely wasn't wasted. You can see where the money was spent in costumes, practical sets, and locations. Never saw the Acolyte, but the clips that make the rounds show settings that feel artificial compared to Andor.
Disney may not have made money on the series, but I think they got back a lot in intangibles such as prestige, goodwill, etc from the show that are hard to quantify in terms of dollars.
