Kentucky vs. Western Kentucky Game Preview and Predictions!

I attended the last game Western Ky beat KY, we were over confident and that's not happening with a Pope team

Look all I’m going to say is don’t be shocked if
Kentucky drops 100 regularly in Sec play this year
Stays undefeated well into conference
Stays undefeated until post season
Takes multiple Ls in conference

Gotta play good D for 40 minutes. Rebound and make free throws. If wku is taking care of the ball and can make some timely 3s. They can give their selves a chance to pull out an upset! That exact same thing goes for UK. We ve seen UK missing 3s in a game. And they moved the ball inside and out and looked to get to the rim! But then they'd find a rhythm when shooting the 3! And they'd send 4 guys to the glass for offensive rebounds. Easy putbacks and run outs of steals and missed shots are what they're trying to do. Doesn't matter if the 3:is falling for a 3-4 minute stretch. They got so many shooters that they ll start making. You just gotta limit turnovers and easy putbacks while they're missing. Cause they're gonna miss shots

Our biggest issue will be we don’t have dominant offensive post play. We can do everything but go back to the basket with a big. That’ll come down to development and match ups down the road

Its gonna be interesting in seeing how the players handle what is a hard truth when you play at UK, which is you are every teams super bowl, and you are going to get everybody's best shot every game you play. This team has been great so far, i just hope they continue to improve and the team stays bought in all year. Because this could he a special team this season.

I’m pretty sure Lamont Butler Otega and Andrew Carr can score around the basket. Amari isn’t the big Dream but he beats you with power and offensive rebounds for put backs . Jaxson is good getting defenders on his back making cuts and Carr and Amari are both really good at running the offense up top opening the lane for cutters. Even if we’re not hitting 3s teams will still respect it so driving lanes will be open

UK only made 3 3-pointers in the second half vs Duke. A half they won by 14. They aren't dependant on the 3

Wku is my Alma mater but I live in Lexington. It’s a lose - lose and a win - win situation

WKU is 4 spot higher than Lipscomb and UK lead that game by 40 with 6 to go. So I predicting around a 30pt win. 102-73. I like that this Kentucky team doesn't play with it food too much and every 4 min segment and every half are pretty damn consistent. With the old regime, too many times UK would be leading 16-13 with 8 to go in the half and they make a good run to get seperation, but UK would often never put these mid majors away and they'd win a game they should've won by 30 by 17. It was so frustrating.

As a uk fan of 40+ years and college sports fan in general, i will be honorably, one of the very few non biased commentors from the bbn fan base when i say, i do not predict our games, regardless of resume, rank or opponent!
I understand and accept that anyone can be beat on any given night by anyone no matter where.
I do like and appreciate the educated response and mentality from coach pope when he says they dont believe in trap games but unfortunately, i do and its mostly because of the cal era but also because that is simply the world of sports in general, lol!
Western ky has almost always gave us a good competitive game and i can respect that just like i respect their coach!
I think wku will give us more consistent competition than clemson will across the board.
I love that people nationally are getting back on board with uk basketball finally even if they hate us, lol!
However, i pump my breaks personally, after a win before the next game and so forth.
I didnt think we played very well against jackson regardless of the score especially with turnovers but maybe im just a stickler because i want this team to be so successful and prove everyone wrong so we'll see soon enough i guess.
I mean, we did beat a great duke team and some declined competition to stay undefeated while uconn gets handled by a decent Memphis team which is actually their 1st real test and they failed!
What happens to kansas if they lose hunter due to foul trouble or injury???
These next few days will tell us all who's for real and who isn't!

Kentucky is shooting almost 60% on 2’s so even if their 3’s aren’t falling then they are still hitting shots.

I’m not concerned about a game where the threes aren’t falling because they are incredibly efficient from two point game.
