Hey Matt,you got even a cheaper Halation toll in Resolve FX...I have filmconvert which is the Dehancer for the poor and it is plenty enough if you pair it with Halation toll from Resolve...I have some vintage glass and I can't use them in any payed gig becausr they are too vintage😂😂😂 with all the CA and halation,blooming etc...and the footage will be backed in.
But like you said with oversharpned moderncamera like S5ii,GH5,6 probably the way to go...but with my Blackmagic 4K,l and even 6K max mist 1/8 would be the max I will want to go...
