HBO started with bang with Joe Frazier vs George Foreman in 1973 not Ali vs Frazier III in 1975.
ОтветитьMy favourite HBO show is Last Week Tonight With John Oliver. I love imagining his pitch meetings with HBO for some of his insane stunts like the Eat Shit Bob song and dance in the middle of NYC or when he started a fake church and became a televangelist.
ОтветитьI think the drop in 2019 is a direct result of the frustration people had with the last season of Games of Throne. But that's gonna go back up. I think it was mostly a reactionary drop in subscribers.
ОтветитьWANNA HEAR A GOOD ONE TO DO? DO ONE ON THE "CHEATER BOX" LOL.. WHEN YOU COULD BY A BOX AND GET EVERYTHING FREE ESPECIALLY PPV AND ALL MOVIE CHANNELS
ОтветитьI gotta get HBO max since the the new sex in city version is coming out
ОтветитьThrilla In Manila
ОтветитьThe Crypt Keeper was my late night weekend babysitter ☠️😍🤣👍
ОтветитьI think foxtale kinda out did them tbh but I have no proof of this just speculation
ОтветитьMy favorite Watchmen and Love craft country and Sex in the city
ОтветитьAgree with Mike himself. Curb Your Enthusiasm is also my favorite HBO Original.
ОтветитьHBO Showtime and Cinemax were definitely most exciting in the early 80's cable days before most people had VCRs. I definitely love all the shows like Sopranos, Oz, Six Feet Under, Game of Thrones ( I don't care what the last season did it was still very cool and badass )
Currently I don't see any big use for HBO. They've also been more and more woke which is annoying and stupid. Same with Showtime. To them I say stop being so woke. It doesn't attract more viewers. It's a bad vibe.
Just give us more great content and that's it.
Nevertheless great story here ^^^^^
My personal fav from HBO is generation kill
ОтветитьGame of Thrones, obviously, and yes they are the best channel by far HBOMax is the best gift god has bestowed on mankind.
ОтветитьThis channel is sooo addicting...
ОтветитьYou didn't mention that Time Inc. acquired Warner Communications in 1989 & completed in early 1990 as Time Warner!
Ответитьam i the only one who didnt know HBO was a cable channel
ОтветитьHey, Company Man. How about you do a Bigger Than You Know video on BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation)? I know that you likely never heard of this British media conglomerate. They owned both television and radio stations throught the United Kingdom and the world. Pretty please?
ОтветитьHBO deserve their praise for their bold and daring decisions when it comes to the dark and mature content of their shows. The Wire is by far the best piece of television ever. The Sopranos comes in second. Band of Brothers I haven't seen but I bet it's insane too.
ОтветитьOz is the greatest HBO show ever
ОтветитьDeadwood for me is HBO's Gold Standard TV Show
ОтветитьI honestly think HBO set itself apart even from traditional TV networks like CBS, ABC, and the like in more ways than the collective number of Super Bowl viewers throughout history.
ОтветитьHas he done Box Tops yet??
ОтветитьBelieving curb is better than Seinfeld is controversial?
ОтветитьThe Larry Sanders Show was a decade ahead of its time.
ОтветитьOZ and Curb Your Enthusiasm are 2 of my favorite HBO shows. I’m 35, so when I think of HBO, I think of laying on the carpet as a kid watching OZ with my dad 😂
ОтветитьHBO legit has like 5 contenders for best TV show of all time.
ОтветитьHbo is same year as vhs
ОтветитьHBO was basically Netflix of TV.
ОтветитьThier should definitely be a biopic on HBO cause their literally the most uniqueness network ever to start and continue. Thier always Theatrical first and foremost and no commericals, while (everyone else minus their premium competition) has commercials, they just keep making unique things. Now SHOWTIME has some to buy HBO is still king's even today. Now will that continue rains to be seen but thier logos from the past, brandings and more for things. They definitely need to go back to that cause that's what made also HBO a culture phenomenon that it is today.
ОтветитьJames Dolan's dad or something?
ОтветитьEuphoria is my favorite HBO original
ОтветитьYou’re not alone it’s curb over Seinfeld for me as well
ОтветитьHBO first showed Star Wars in 1983
Ответитьtrue detective season 1. best show ever.
ОтветитьMy favorite is Band of Brothers
ОтветитьHBO is a bit of a relic for me especially with the age of streaming services and diginets. Some of the best movies out there are available to watch for free. I don't think Max will solve that problem unless HBO trots out more compelling original programs
Ответитьthe sopranos changed EVERYTHING
Ответитьhbo is legend just to hear the feature presentation sound
ОтветитьOne time I showed an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm in court during a discrimination hearing. It was the episode where Larry's mother is refused a Jewish burial because she had a tattoo. I explained in my case tattoos aren't a part of Judaism and that it was public knowledge hence this show explaining the traditional etc. The person I was in court against claimed she was Jewish because she had a tattoo in Hebrew she didn't know what it said but she took a DNA test and got a tattoo. Thjs of course gave her the privilege to harass me endlessly during the High Holidays because I took PTO yo celebrate and she didn't etc. I don't think the judge liked Larry David so much because she didn't understand. This judge also believed Hitler had it right but that is California for you. The land of Larry David and then those other kind of people.
ОтветитьWestworld is the best HBO series
ОтветитьThe wire is the goat
ОтветитьMy favorotes from HBO are two of their original films. Flashpoint, 1984, and Beyond the Lae, from 1990. 2 excellent LE rrlated films, based on the assassination of JFK, and a years long investigation, and take down of one of the largest MCs in the western US.
Also a fan of TFTC, and Fragle Rock. Watched Crypt in high school and college, FR as a kid in the esrly 80s. O ly thing I'd consider gettobg Max for is Batman The Animated Series, but my wife got me the 2018 limited edition bluray set.
Max would be a downgrade.
yeback
ОтветитьLet's not forget that Feature Presentation intro in 1983 that is so symbolic and so impressive, and the work that went into making it. Go look up the documentary of the making of that intro and how much time and work went into making a minute and change intro for their features. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that hasn't seen that intro at least once.
ОтветитьHBO had some great 90s documentaries such as "Real Sex" and "Taxicab Confessions." I used to sneak and watch them.
HBO paved the way for streaming and networks to create or merge with movie studios to produce their own movies. That move changed how we consume media at home. Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Tubi, etc. are all indebted to HBO. Even its competitor Showtime had to take a page from HBO's handbook, with their parent company Viacom buying Paramount pictures in the nineties.
HBO would be truly unstoppable if they knew how to get out of their damn own way. They bring on showrunners who create some of the best series ever aired, fool themselves into thinking they can’t ever miss, then completely drop the ball and ruin these beloved shows. Then to rub salt in the wounds, they pull them off their catalogs when they realize they can’t squeeze any more money from them.
(I’m still pissed that I only saw one season of Westworld before they disappeared it).
And now wbd is splitting its division s
ОтветитьMy favorite HBO shows are The Sopranos, The Wire, and The Larry Sanders Show. To me, HBO is the cutting edge cable network, and the gold standard by which all other cable TV networks are measured.
