Why Sega Loves Fan Games

So did i just wasted my whole 2 or 3 days making a wario land 4 port for the original gameboy that i completely forget that making wario or mario fangame is illegal. What if i just make a port like imagine theres wario land 4 on game boy advance but i want to make an port of it for the original game boy. Isnt also making ports of mario or wario land for older nintendo consoles illegal? But seriously i just drawn wario and colored it with game boy green colors. I wasted holy moly 3 days or nintendo accepts making ports of wario land 4 for the original gameboy?

I’m pretty sure that one of the reasons that Sega loves fan games is because 1. They are less of a corporate entity and 2. The Dreamcast failed.

I think the best way to sum it up is this.
Sega prefers love. Nintendo prefers respect. And none can be better summed in their Sonic and Mario games.
Sega will approve any Sonic fan game, but their official ones tend to flip-flop in quality. Sure, there are defenders, but usually, it's on the lower end of reception.
Nintendo... We have easier time to agree when a game is good or not.

For as dumb as they so often are, Sega do seem to genuinely appreciate their fans. Nintendo should should take notes.

Maybe if you make a Nintendo fan game and show it first to Nintendo, and they approve of it (the story, characters, etc), they could let you (and them) make money from it.

I can understand why somebody would not like you to make a fan game of hiser (his or her) work. After all, if you change the story or the characters , or other established features, or create a bad or offensive game, you can ruin the image and reputation of the original work.

Honestly sega putting their foot down on monetized fan games is understandable

I know a lot of fans out there would think that if they make a Sonic fan game they would immediately get hired by Sega and I'm just here to say the truth that it's not that simple and it doesn't actually happen, The problem is Sega could easily approve and listen to the wrong Sonic fans that can easily destroy the sonic brand and destroy everything, Sonic is a brand and has to be protected at all costs.

If You've heard what happened with Sonic Omen then you know exactly what I'm talking about, I'd rather let Sega follow their own path rather than listening to the wrong Sonic fans or the toxic sonic fans of the toxic ungrateful sonic fandom, Sega DOESN'T care about It's fans or the fan games in reality and being hired immediately If you make a Sonic game doesn't really happen immediately

I like the Sonic fan games on the internet for free exactly the way they are and I rather have them only for free on the internet rather than letting them be approved by Sega, The Sonic brand must be protected from the wrong hands and the wrong Sonic fans that can destroy the sonic brand easily.

I don't want another dark age of Sonic a fourth time.
