Check It Out: Star Ruler 2

I just started playing the first one. It's really cool but it boggles my mind a bit. I think streamlined 4x games like Civ 5 has spoiled me. Any tips and pointers for a noob like me?

How's the AI? Do they pose any challenge and how much are they cheating ( I assume they do like 98% of all strategy games)? Also can the player grow out of control too quick like in the first game? In other words are there "infinite" resources up for grabs in a relatively short period of time leading to your empire eclipsing all other empires combined after only like 1 hour of game play. It seems they've fixed the "colonize everything you see ASAP" issue I've had with the first game, do you agree?

Great video - thanks for explaining things.  Pretty much locked in buying it after viewing.  Most videos I see for this game are pretty brutal.
