Sub'd. Great informative video.
ОтветитьLuckily a lot of amps have clip meters nowadays, so that is helpful 😎👌
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьI got a DVC 700 watt RMS american bass hawk 10" and a audiopipe 600 watt RMS amp, with both wired 4ohm. If I wire for 2ohm the amp will then over power the sub, but will I be ok if I stay underpower at 4ohm? Will staying at 4ohms (underpowered by 100 watts) matter if I don't overtune and set gain and subsonic too high? my box is a sealed down firing 0.63 cubic feet box. Its small. Its because I have no space for a large box.
ОтветитьIf i wire a 4 ohm dvc woofer down to 2 ohm at the load, which value do i use? 2 ohm or 4 ohm?
ОтветитьJust play a 50hz test tone at full volume with no sub connected, then check the AC voltage? Where do i put the multimeter leads? You said your stereo unit goes to max volume without distortion. I wouldn’t know that, so how important is that?
ОтветитьHow woukd u calculate this with 3 subs? 2ohm dvc
ОтветитьWhen you look up on the internet does the gain lower the output of the amplifier it says no. But clearly you can do this method and lower the wattage with the gain.
ОтветитьVery informative, Great video. Really appreciate Sonic electronics taking time to educate and helping the general people/public protect their investments. Great job guys very much appreciated
ОтветитьBadass video, thanks
ОтветитьIndeed, there is a novel and precise method for calibrating the gains on amplifiers using a calculator. While some individuals still rely on their auditory perception, as was customary in the past, the current technological advancements provide enhanced accuracy and reliability compared to traditional methods.
ОтветитьSo I have 2 dual 2 ohm kicker L7 subs that are rated at 750rms each. And I got the kicker 1800.1 which says 1800 watts rms at 2ohms. The subs are wired so it's a 2ohm load at the amp. So my question is do I feed 1500 watts to the the subs so they each get 750 watts or do I only feed 750 watts?
ОтветитьAwesome!
This was so damn handy, was really worried about blowing up these OG Kicker "comp" subs with an Amp ( i purchased already ) farrrrr too powerful for their GrandDaddy asses 😅😅😅😂
Thank you.
ОтветитьI have a 4 ohm subwoofer but it's being wired for 2 ohms. For resistance is it what the subwoofer is or how I have it wired out the leads?
ОтветитьSo what is the math is you have 2 subs at 600w rms each ,4 ohms each? Would you take 1200 x 4 or 600x4 ?
ОтветитьWhat if your speaker is tuned for 1ohm is it still the same math? Because oviosly anything × 1 = the same...
ОтветитьGreat video bro from your no1 fan in Guyana. Your electronics explanation is great.
ОтветитьThis was about volts not gain control you didn't show any gain control settings????
ОтветитьThanks this videos was very helpful
ОтветитьSo if I have to 750 RMS speakers do I added up for the power, 750+750, or is it just 750 times 2 ohms???
Ответитьhello i have two sub pioneer 1400 watt each and 400 rms each both 4 ohm and using pioneer mono gm9701 how to calculate the voltage and want to used at 1 ohm please help bro
Ответитьthanks man, i am using this method for a long time since i have watched your video
Ответитьyou should have used a different wattage that wasn't double that last. you basically didn't adjust anything on the second run. with that 2k amp you have I would have don't a way different wattage run. say 1480 watts. then use you math to do the test.
ОтветитьWould the same method apply to dual voice coil? Or does the final impedance?
ОтветитьSo I have 2 subs 350 watts each 4 ohm each but have them wired down to 2 ohms so would it be 2 times 700 then the square root is that right
ОтветитьWhat is the amp RMS is lower than sub RMS? Example I have two 1200rms subs totalling 2400watts and a 1200wRMS amp ? Can I set gain a little higher?
ОтветитьI am not quite convinced with this approach. Target RMS voltage shall be calculated if voltage factor is known. This means that you need to measure the phase angle. I am also not convinced if the DMM used here measures RMS voltage.
ОтветитьIt’s safe but stupid to send less power than the rms rating.
Subs can take lots of more power than rms rating when playing music. Just try to tell how far you can go to still sound good.
what if your subs are wired to a lower ohm load? Like two 4 ohm subs wired to 1 ohm final load. would you still multiply the rms by the ohm of the sub or multiply the rms by the ohm load you have it wired to?
ОтветитьSo if 1 - 4ohm @150 watt speaker = 600
Does wiring in parallel now add up to 2ohms @150=300
or 2ohms @300=600 for final square root?
Good stuff! This helped me as I just finished up my install and while it sounds great and is powerful, I didn't check to see if my Pioneer HU was clean at full volume. I also assumed a couple of things; we know what assume means .... :) there are 9 speakers and 2 pairs are running at 8 ohms.... so I'll need to either parallel them or see if they have dual voice coils. My woofer and mid bass drivers are a series/parallel to give me a 2.6 ohm load so nothing to be done there. Thanks again.
ОтветитьMine is 48.9 voltage. That's high on yhe math. Unless u divided by 2 to get 24.45 volt
ОтветитьDear sir help us we fit our Sony Hi-res XS-162ES 2WAY Component Speaker 🔊 SX-160ES 2way Coaxial Speaker 🔊 and XM-GS4 4 channel Stereo Amplifier.. and XS-AW8 20 cm under seat Subwoofer. Bud sound quality is not good and explain how to set amplifier satting.🔊??
ОтветитьWhy do people say gain isnt a volume , power , watts knob or whatever if u can tune a big power amp to run low for a weaker sub. thats like saying u shouldnt raise the gain if u upgraded to a bigger sub it wouldnt be any louder in my opinion without raising gain to accommodate the new sub i dont get it i just ignore those guys they get so offensive about gain knob exclaiming it is not a volume when it is if u can clearly hear it get louder if u raise it They dont make any sense to me
ОтветитьWhat's the formula for 1ohm output?
ОтветитьDoes the same set up work for speakers as well?
ОтветитьSo you're telling me you can check a amps wattage by voltage
ОтветитьI know this video is old but: is this still how I would set the gain on a Taramps Smart Bass 3k? From 0.5 to 2ohm the wattage is the same or extremely similar and the voltage is supposed to adjust accordingly to the resistance as is my understanding. Would I still set the gain with the Resistance for a smart amp? Im trying to get 2000 Watts my Sub is 2 OHM to the amp.
Since the amp is smart what would be the best resistance to use during the calculation? Or would I just stick with 2 OHM?
2000 x 2 = 4000
4000 square root = 63.2455532034
63.2455532034 VOLTS FOR 2000 RMS Power? Or would the voltage need to be lower for a smart amp??? Anyones input is appreciated. Thank you.
Ok, a 3,000 watt RMS amplifier, but want it set to 1200 RMS for now at 1 ohm . Can I fuse it at 100 amp and will be fine ?????
ОтветитьHow do I set the gain manually without the dynotester he used?
ОтветитьI’ve got a 1000rms amp and a 900rms sub. it’s a dual 2ohm sub what would the equation be for this? The sub is wired to 1ohm
ОтветитьWas gonna watch it but start off with 2 ads. So tired of adds
ОтветитьThey still make kenwood! I dont do car audio anymore, good to see there still around. i wish they would return to home audio
Ответитьso does this work the opposite, if i have an amp that puts 200w RMS @ 4 ohm, and a sub that 300w @ 4 ohm would you swap the Power from the amp and solve to for the sub instead. esentially raising the gain to match the sub? 300*2 = 600 =24.49v/ 300*4=1200 = 34.64v?
ОтветитьJust wanna make sure I’m doing this right I have 2 subwoofers 300 watts each side so total 600 watts and I’m doing 2 ohms so would I do 300 x 2 or 600 x 2
ОтветитьIf I have a 1000 watt amp that puts out 500 watts at 2ohm and 1000 watt at 1ohm, and I want to wire 2 subs at 500 watts rms each, do I wire the 2 subs to 1ohm or 2ohm to get 500 watts to each sub?
ОтветитьHow do I do mine I have skar sdr dual 12s with the skar box built for it and a skar rp1500 can you help?
ОтветитьI know this video is old when you say 300 watts is this means for both speaker or just one speaker? If it is two speaker of 300 watts 2 ohms like you said it will be 600 square root so if its two speaker it means double to get the square root
ОтветитьWhat about bridging??? Does this still apply? Use case is two 4channel amps bridged to give more power to the speakers. Please let me know, want to make sure installer took all precautions??
