first coment on this video :P!
Ответитьa lot more similar than what I though it would be!
ОтветитьI prefer the overdrive. Great video Johan!
ОтветитьWould love to see Jtm45 vs Marshall origin. Using both a strat and les paul. Great channel as always!
ОтветитьBack then you knew it was all tubes making the magic. Who knows now. Have a good day.
ОтветитьStandard for me!
ОтветитьExcellent
ОтветитьPPIMV is the BEST type of master volume! \m/ rock @ whisper level!
BOTH amps sounded good. Way BETTER than today's Orange shite!
Standard had a bit more clarity, but both overdrove really nicely!
In isolation, I preferred the tone of the Overdrive ... but the OR80 sounds like it might cut through a mix better.
Thanks Johan. Am certainly less familiar with (esp vintage) Orange than I am with the other known brands. Any more comparisons with these/other Orange models would be welcome! Cheers, Be well - K
I liked the standard better loud, and the overdrive better when it the masters were turned down
ОтветитьBest Intros in all of YT! Really liked the Overdrive with rolled off Master. Sounded great as always
ОтветитьA day off with Johan! Perfect after a Canada day double shift!
ОтветитьJohan, DONT JUMP!!! We need those videos to keep coming.
ОтветитьVERY TASTY. I like the standard. Great intro location, lol. Cheers!
ОтветитьStandard ...but who can crank it up like that. I was using a thd univalve with 6v6 at half power at a bar a while back and they said I was too loud. My reply was go get me a beer ...there is no such thing as too loud..so I put an old Sylvania el34 on full power cranked...they came back and said that's better. So take the standard and crank...crank until you can crank anymore and paint the bar ORANGE! They both are pretty amazing
ОтветитьBoth are very useable and sound great! Thanks so much for the work and insight!Love YA Brother!
ОтветитьQuite nice both!
ОтветитьOriginal on distorted sound is much better...
ОтветитьThe king of tone is now king of the Mountain (or at least a small hill!) LOL! Great stuff as usual. I like the OD better by just a bit. Have a great week my friend!
Ответитьthat's a sweet comparison Johan. Are there differences sonically between greaphics and normal heads?
ОтветитьHi, Johan!
I know about Orange a lot, because of my ecperiense in shopping work. I think, they are somehow belong to Rolland, like Boss and mini BR. Metall guys like them for an all. Really powerfull amps. But now I think about Blackstar - I hope, I will have a time. For now I got some flu, so I hope, maybe "one day"! OK, I am sharing that video to your section on my channel, very usefull subject! In my phones amasing sound! Thank you very much! C.U.
Zigfrid
Loved the standard better, but would definitely take either. Another excellent and jealousy inducing video!
ОтветитьI dont know much about oranges. What is the FAC and HF drive?
ОтветитьBoth amps share the exact same circuit other than the master volume on the overdrive.
ОтветитьOK, I've been putting off watching this, because I've REALLY thinking its time I breakdown, and get an Orange. I had one decades ago, and have never got it out of my system. Now you've gone and got me all worked up....Great vid as usual my friend....
ОтветитьThey does not appeal to my feminine side - the distortion is relentless and does not give my favourite master guitarist much room for creating new lines. BUT thanks Johan, for making this video.
WE ARE NOT WORTHY !!!!
Thanks Johan, great sounds all round! Nice riffage too!Keep cool and \m/
ОтветитьGreat playing cool riffs. Not at all the dead thud sound of orange today. Much more lively, lots of high end harmonics.
ОтветитьI love the way this one started...Hi..I'm Johan...( King of the Rock..standing). These are subtle hints I tell ya! LOL. Dig your vids man! Thanks
ОтветитьHave you thought about comparing some of the Orange sounding preamp pedals with various Orange amps, pedals like the donner sweet juice
ОтветитьI LOL'D at that intro
ОтветитьSounds great!
ОтветитьPerfect Vintage - Dirty - Filthy - Old school - Rock sound !! ;-)
ОтветитьMusic to my ears. Orange is my favourite amp maker and you Johan is up there as a favourite riff maker
ОтветитьDo OR120's.
Ответитьi found a expensive 78 JMP SLP (4 holes, non MV) are they worth the money?(i have a jcm 800 2204 already)
ОтветитьSounds purty good. That BLACK LP you play is special isn't it.
ОтветитьNow that's THE tone for me - a Les Paul & a vintage Orange amp with Greenbacks. I'd happily take either one but I think the Overdrive breaks up ever so slightly better & more naturally sounding (if that makes any sense lol). I love Orange amps. Some people say they're a bit of a 'one trick pony' but when they do that trick so well why change it? If it ain't broke don't fix it I reckon! Great demo as usual Johan, the way you play is just how I like a guitar to sound :)
ОтветитьDoes "FAC on 1" mean pointing to the right?
ОтветитьNice video again! I love my 73 Or120 and my 69 Ormat 4x12. But I switched prerolla greenies for blackbacks.
ОтветитьWhen I bought my OR80 I had a master gain added in. I can get any tones, clean to hard bite at any level. I saved the original tubes and only recently put them back in. I think if you took the word “overdrive” off you would not hear much difference
ОтветитьI’ve got the 120w overdrive model from 1979. Love it.
ОтветитьIs it possible that the difference in their sounds is just down to the age of tubes or capacitors, and slightly different pot values? The OD model, compared to the non-OD one, sounds to me like how an amp does with older and less perfectly-matched tubes. Do these amps have the same tubes in them, and are they about the same age?
Is the non-OD amp the one that's modded to have a PPIMV?
Hello from Portland Oregon! I Run my 64 sg special through my Or80 combo w 2 pre rola celestian 30 watts and run that with a 1968 Marshall 1960b cab w 4x25 watt celestions 🪨❤️🔥⚡💥
Also have a 1972 Marshall ported bass cab w 2 early 70s red framed 50 watt marshall speakers. Heavenly Johan ✨ Big ups
They are the picture of my Profile 🎇
I wish Orange would make amps that actually sound like 70’s Oranges. Modern Orange is mostly too fuzzy and tubby for me when overdriving. The one Orange I ended up with that I really like I found is based on a JMP Marshall…lol (Brent Hinds model)
