Swedish metal band Morbus Chron is gone but Sweven takes off from that. This one is of atmospheric metal with hints of extremity.

1. The Spark
2. By Virtue of a Promise
3. Reduced to an Ember
4. The Sole Importance
5. Mycelia
6. Solemn Retreat
7. Visceral Blight
8. Sanctum Sanctorum

I think it's good that the band records exactly what they like and feel
and they don't do it for publicity
album is original and probably not for everyone , esp. not for people who likes to pigeonhole
>>for me outstanding<<

I listened to the first 2 tracks and I was mesmerized. I plan on setting aside a solid hour to listen to the entire album. There are plenty of bands that play more self indulgent music than this band.

When you started your argumentation distinguishing between albums meant to entertain the audience and albums made by the band for the band, i was telling me, it´s so true, i´ve never seen it like that. This was until you revealed that this album was in your opinion made for the band´s own pleasure. For me, it´s the complete other way round. This is the best example of a contemplative and enjoyable album made to take the audience into a journey. It´s not hypertechnical, it´s not that proggy, the songs are long with many melodic and slow parts. As a musician, i wouldn´t have so much fun to play this live. It´s just incredible that we get a so different impression from the same album. Anyway, it´s in my top 5 metal albums of all time, easy. A BEAUTY.

Whatever people called their genre, i say it's metal as hell!!

Also the feeling in "the sole importance" guitar solo (the solo) is that unearthly and unique, sometimes i need to listen to feel like rising up to the sky.

Personally I like it a lot but to each their own.

I love it... from start to finish. very emotional. one of my all time favourite pieces of music.. my recommendation for some other great record: "Mind Burns Alive" by Pallbearer. it's very slow and deep with beautiful clean vocals :)
