Another week, another Checkpoint video!
The weather has been getting better and better here in the PNW and that meant a fun, full weekend of living car life. We started off by saving Adam (ADAM 6) from the horrors of public transit and picked him up at the ferry to drive him to his importer's yard to collect yet again, another Civic Type R sedan.
After helping Adam out we got a call from Sandra that the Cressida had decided it would simply be much funnier if it stopped working in the middle of the highway. We dropped by the closest Lordco and grabbed some jumper cables and headed out to recover our brown beast.
After doing all of that community service Dylan headed off on a well-earned vacation and I stole his camera with the intent of heading down to the USA to film an event so he wouldn't have to.
Car events are often hit or miss and Washington State frequently reminds me that it is home to some of the nicest and the worst builds simultaneously. When I heard that there was an event called "RHD Fest" being hosted simultaneously with a drift event at Evergreen Raceway I hoped for the best and prepared for the worst.
Thankfully my hope was put in a good place and upon arrival I was immediately impressed with what I saw. The collection of quality cars, rare chassis, and authentic parts was impressive. I was able to get extremely excited over Derrik's (@dpomps) yellow S15 Silvia that was somehow home to every single holy grail part imaginable, view a wicked collection of slammed Japanese sedans on stylish wheels and even got to indulge in one of my most closeted loves; nerding out about hilarious kei cars like the Suzuki Cappuccinos that had wound up at this event.
The lineup of cars featured a handful of cars from British Columbia, Canada (where we are from) but not nearly as many as there would have been at events a few years ago. In the past, BC has been the kingpin of holding a lot of Japanese car events in the states close to the border together (as we got access to these cars a full decade before they did). But as these cars have become more and more accessible it is obvious now that the Americans don't need nearly as much help from us as they once did.
As always, thank you for reading and hopefully you enjoy the video.
We'll see you next week.
Don't forget to break the rules, and enjoy!
