Just like everything else, the major thing that drives value in a crypto project is adoption and use case. For example, ALPH has a very robust DeFi system, but most don't even know that. Ultimately, you have to do your own research, learn about about the project and development team and of course the community that supports it. Providing hardware is a great hobby and get you into a project early to support the project. Howver, GPU mining is not going to rebound "a lot" in 2025 imo. This will be more like the bull run of 2017/2018. Our last bull run was an anomaly due to the C word and stimulus from the Gov in the US and people bored looking for FOMO. That is not the case anymore when a box of crackers costs $6. Little Timmy does not have disposable income for high risk projects and that is likely not to change much here in 2025.

Should have added an important note to your commercial. You said it’s probably the last time to buy before price spikes, you didn’t say the prices will drop soon after bull run. Sounds like you’re building fomo for sales commissions. Just my opinion

In terms of purchasing low market cap spec coins, people also forget the risk of low tier CEX which these coins trade on. Even if you withdraw those coins into a private wallet, these exchanges charge whatever they want for withdrawals.

Even if you leave your coins in the CEX, there’s the risk of that exchange just running away with your tokens as well

So you’re honestly down 5-10% if you buy due to the trading fee plus the withdraw fee.

I mined $42k in ethereum in 2017, and it cost me $1200 in parts and $500 in electricity. Mining is only good if two things happen, you hodl and the price goes up substanially, in my opinion the easy money is over, but they also assumed that in 2017. The real money now is in identifying patterns and trading on them. Of course I was also only in bitcoin and thereum, not any type of unknown alt coin

👍 It's a good point that mining is also a hobby for most, and maybe even an obsession for some. The fact that you can also make money from doing something you love, is great. I'm old, just getting into mining and not trying to earn a living. I'm also lucky enough to have free electricity, for now, so I get to have fun and make some money. A hobby that pays me...... What a concept! 😆

Mining is a hobby with minimal profit at this point. But you also are not calculating all of your time that you have to put into it. I really enjoy building computers, and I enjoyed the mining too and learning about it, but it just got too much for me. Real Estate is much more profitable.

And you wouldn't be investing in one specific spot. You would be dollar cost averaging in. Fifty cents a day doesn't justify. Your value on your equipment is overvalued

You have forgotten the cost of you own labor. In economics you could have used your time to make money elsewhere. The largest cost in a business is not power but labor.

Good points on the hardware, as long as you know you wont take a loss on your hardware then you are already a step ahead. When I sold all my 30 series gpus I made a profit or broke even on 95% of the units I sold

Sometimes you don't have to listen to anyone. Just do what you are doing, and you definitely WIN. GPU mining will be profitable again! It's a long-term investment, and your money doesn't get lost. Those who couldn't stand after Etherum are those who think only about profit but not love for GPU mining. In everything you do, let love lead so that in case something didn't go well, the love will cover every pain and make you stick to the plan till you recover. Love what you do, and you will become successful automatically. Don't do something because everyone is doing it.

GPU Mining will be profitable again. No one knew Ethereum would be profotable in 2017. GPU mining is still possible.
