But yea, a book club sounds nice, I'm walking with "Siddhartha" and "The richiest man in Babylon" right about now.

I troll through Alibris for $1 art books.

What about online places like deviantart or tumblr? Most of the things there can ONLY be seen on those websites, and all people creating them are by definition a part of contemporary art community. There are many artists who post their work on those websites which are Rembrandt level of quality, in all styles you can think of.

It is a pitty that the Art Assignment's page of the list of online art resources is unavailable. Can you post an updated one or share links to other current places?

Although it is an "old" video, finding your channel is exceptionally inspiring. As in a conversation, some of my practices, styles, and interest in art are being explained a systematized by your descriptions. Indeed, thanks for a beautiful and sincere space where you share your ideas, thoughts and experience with/in/about art :-)

I love your hair-color! Is it natural?

We have a small museum in downtown Salt Lake City that hosts artists from around the world as well as local student artists. Really like visiting there once a season as that is about the rate at which they rotate their exhibits.

Even know this is 4 years old at this point. Still worth watching and relevant.

I'm conflicted...

One thing disappointing about entering the art world is that there is a major divide between different art scenes--especially art scenes dominated by academic artists who seem pretty well connected with grants and patrons vs. art scenes dominated by working class individuals who are constantly spending large amounts of their own money and time creating art with very little returns, sometimes exotified as outsider artists.

Sarah, the show is wonderful and I'm glad I've found it in these pandemic times, it gives me a chance to learn about art, something I've always wanted to do. Keep up the good work. 😀

There is only one small art gallery/museum in my area. If I wish to go and explore any further than that, I would have to take at least one bus and a ferry to do so. But like you have said; thank GOD for the internet!! lol

I wish I'd started watching The Art Assignment sooner. Right now I'm binge-watching just to catch up, but then I plan on going back and doing as many of the assignments as I can.

There's no way to learn about contemporary art, as well as you cannot learn about a god once you realised it's just a fraud.

I can't say much about contemporary art. I don't rlly get it (altho i don't rlly know if i get "art" period) but I'm trying to. What interests me about the art I consume is storytelling and narrative. I like thinking of art in that context as part of a story. In terms of creating art, I love trying to understand how the real world can be translated into this thing called art. I love trying to understand how painters interpret light and color. The physics behind it all. How animators convey motion. How composition makes no sense but can somehow make or break a piece.

Why do I put effort into my sculptures and get them lost for nothing anymore? I can just make these stupid abstract pieces for tons of money! Thanks for the excellent video!

I really love The Art Assignment. It ´s very instructive and a near, so that you can get close to art, love it and like it. There´s only one little thing I´d like to comment about. I think you should make it more slowly and the depiction of images a bit longer for us to be able to browse them better. Thank for your work it really helps.
