However, I didnt hear this song by him first. Instead, it was the version by the late Nicolette Larson, more than 40 years ago. She recorded it in 1978.

I've been looking for this song for almost 30yrs. My dear grandmother used to play his album when I was young and it's amazing how much of the songs / lyrics you retain as an adult. Here I am flooded with memories of my childhood that I can't even comprehend. Such an incredibly gifted musician that belongs to a great era of country music.
