D5 Pro - amazing clone of DartZeel NHB-108 speaker amplifier. Endgame amp?

Has anybody tried to change the capacitors and how did it change the sound quality? Which capacitors will affect the sound quality?

this clone from transaudio or the golden weiliang amp ? What is your opinion and anyone have a recommodation ?

Do you think that it make sense to buy the more expensive dartzeel clones, like the NHB-268? There are also many products with price tag between the d5pro and the NHB-268, that have circuits that looks much similar to the original dartzeel

Using a Valhalla 2 as a preamp, the amp rocks and rules over the few amps I own. It pushes my 4 ohm elac floor speakers with some beautiful articulation. Thank you for your review and intro to Frank (subtitled). $535 shipped and I made sure to get the exact amp you reviewed.

I have had mine D5 pro for some days. Plays great. More details better bass and mids and just a lot better then the Denon x3800h I had driving my JBL 4349 before.

My only complaint is that it get quite warm. I have it in a cabinet with open door. I works but some kind of cooling would maybe be good.

I've opened it and the hum is coming from transformer. Seller is suggesting trying a regulator, I not sure what they mean. Aren't such protection and filters already or supposed to be built-in, I'm not keen on throwing more money on this device when they can't even give me a straight answer. I've checked with electricians at work, they said that Melbourne has very clean and regulated power supply.

I'm asking for a return and refund, thought I'd give everyone an update.

well i got it last night jammed it in my system straight away my god mate its just the best by far of anything if heard at anytime in my life it kicks ass and my kef104/2 i sware smoke came out of the port at first lol,imaging is mind blowing just everything is so so perfect ,im deeply grateful of you to review this magic amp thankyou x1000000..

So, what a "high gain" rating for a preamp that's suitable for this amp? How about a preamp based on the PASS P1.7 circuit?

Would you know if I went with this amp and the cary preamp would anaudio research ref 3 phono stage make a good pairing.

All competently designed amps of low noise, distortion and low output impedance will sound alike.

Can you tell me if this is the best clone you've listened to yet? I'm ready to buy one, but can wait if there's a better amp that you haven't posted a review on yet.

Please tell the actual specs for the transformer. I might get one and take out one channel to make two monoblocs (I don't mind buying two identical looking silver chassis too!). I suppose I need to buy a soft relay module too.

HMM the link shows 523 euro and getting it to holland 170. So that is not 500 but approx 700 euro. That is about 760 dollar. Or Am I Missing something ?

Got mine recently. Overall workmanship and sonic is good. The 18 (or maybe 20) gauge wiring from the power board to the amp board and back is embarrassing. 60V rails should get me about 180watt but that bottleneck is bothersome.

AliE has a wide selection of this amp some of which are priced in the $4000-6000 range, featuring a much more authentic clone with enormous bus bars for the filter caps and ground planes. The $6k model is fully balanced so it doubles the number in input and output boards which raises the cost.
These look to be extremely SERIOUS amps, and are priced accordingly.

.....and,
I've just read that Dartzeel are closing doors and going out of business.
Just like replica Rolex are 98% of the original for under 10% of the price, the best Darzeel clones are almost indistinguishable from the originals at a minute fraction of the price.

Hello and thanks a lot for your reviews, I bougth a D5PRO clone after seeing your video (the integrated amplifier for available room rationale).
As far as input binding post cables are concerned, they are thin but at this step of the chain, the signal is not yet amplified, so, isn't it normal ? As a comparison, when one rewires a turntable arm, the thinest cable with the least resistance is chosen. Something I miss ?

I'll be back with a review, and how it compares with my linn 2200 power amp in my all linn Akurate system. 😮

Hello to everyone! I have been listening to the amplifier for a couple of days and I can say this is one of the best I have heard and the best I have owned so far. It's so clean and precise but natural, without any harshness. Heights, mids and bass all sound beautiful. A lot of air between instruments, holography is excellent. Voices sound very nice, really well blended altogether with instruments. Strong grip on speakers which disappear in the scene.
The build quality of the case is excellent, really thick aluminium and nice paint, looks like a tank. Great pairing with Wiim ultra streamer, no preamp in setup.
The only downside is it's getting really hot. It doesn't matter whether music is playing or not, it's hot all the time. I even contacted Frank from Germany to ask him about the heat, and he confirmed his sample was warm as well. On some parts of the amplifier I can't hold my hand for more than 5-10 seconds. I am just concerned about reliability with all that heat.
All in all, an unbelievable unit for more than a good price. With shipping cost and custom taxes I pay more than 700€ but it's worth every euro.

Thank you to HiFi Zone for this video and taking the time to reply to so many comments. I also recently got a D5 Pro. Mostly out of curiosity and having read many hours of anything I could find about it. I already have many amps from Class D to 845 SET. As most on here already know, this amp is outstanding value. I would recommend it to anyone starting their hifi journey. I am also running it with ML ESL panels and would suggest pairing this with a tube preamp. I have one question - would anyone happen to have a link to a site with suggested mods to do? Ive cut and pasted and saved many comments and suggestions, but if anyone is aware of a thread or site detailing mods I would greatly appreciate a link! 😊

I’m about to order a D5 Pro. I was going to order the upgraded one with XLRs but read your comment about the seller recommending sticking with the RCA D5 Pro version. I read through all the comments but didn’t see anyone who ordered with XLRs make comments… Do you still recommend just getting the same model you got?

Just had my first of very many hours with this beauty. WOW and again WOW. Absolutely superb sound. Beats my other power amps completely (£800-£2000). In fact they are crying. Where have my speakers gone ?

I recently saw the interior of the Dartzeel and it looks like it had two toroidal transformers whereas the D5 Pro has one? Is this true and if so how does that affect the performance?

Anyone got suggestions as to the best matched preamplifier for the D5 Pro ?

I have number 12 of the original run of 20(NHB-108A) and have a '108B coming on the 13th(both will be used for bi-amping). These clones may sound good but none have 50ohm connections that raise the SQ to greater heights!

I also have the Mk1 preamp.

I'm seriously considering buying this, but wondering how it would match with my Lyngdorf TDAI-1120, which can be used as a preamp. The analog output impedance is 75ohm. What is the input impedance of this amp? The original darTZeel I believe it's >30kohms in the RCA line.
