I honestly never played a game of CK2 or CK3 in any other way as with a random character (or a custom character in a random realm) with the only exception being a ruler of the place I actually live IRL.

I should probably try the random button, I have a tendency to do the same two runs over and over in CK2 and the same exact run over and over in CK3. I haven’t got a favourite character exactly bc I usually make my own, but I tend to always pick an Irish count and go for Britannia - I've also done Scotland to Britannia but I just can't get myself to do it as England. In CK2 I did that a lot too, but my absolute favourite was to hit Shattered World, down to counties, then I'd pick one in modern day Russia and go for forming the empire - mostly just because you can’t form the USSR in this game and that was the next best thing. Although I suppose I do have a favourite character because there is one start I never replace with a custom ruler and have played more than once - that one matriarchy in Africa, I mostly play her because it means getting to play female rulers consistently without having to make sweeping changes to a religion or culture. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if she's the favourite character of a lot of girls who play this game for that very reason. I don't really play for achievements but I've thought about going for Mother Of Us All just because I like the character well enough and I've always found religion in this game very interesting.
