Historically, tariffs were the federal government's main source of revenue. Those were the days before federal taxes took over. If used smartly, they work!! I say give tariffs a chance. The shackles of taxes are eating the average citizen alive. They also offer an unlimited supply of spending & regulations. We, as a nation, must break our dependence on taxes & unleash the American spirit of building, manufacturing & " can do" spirit.

I appreciated Charles Cooke's reasons for not voting for Trump as my son has the same argument but unfortunately he did vote for Kamala. I was born and raised in Cuba and witnessed the Communist take over of my country. Unfortunately the present Democratic party is more in line with the marxist worldview than they are for the Founders of our Republic. I did vote for Trump on the strength of his VP choice which I think is outstanding. For me Kamala as Sen. Kennedy aptly put is part of the loony AOC wing of the party without the bartending experience.

Cooke toned down his Trump opposition in this interview. He didn’t vote for Trump in 2016 and 2020 but only mentions January 6th as the basis for withholding the vote.

Trump’s actions on January 6th are disqualifying but that’s the tip of the iceberg of his unfitness for office. There are reasons Trump lost in 2020 and Republicans have decided the best way to avoid that debate is to act as if the year 2020 didn’t happen.
