In general Burial in a National Cemetery is available to all members of the armed forces who meet the requirements and who were Discharged from the military Under Conditions Other than Dishonorable. An eligible veterans' spouse or a minor dependent child may also be eligible for a burial at a National Cemetery. The burial includes a gravesite, a headstone or Marker, the opening and closing of the grave,
all this AT NO COST when the veteran is interred at a National Cemetery.

Is there any help available to pay for burial expenses? If you are a spouse or a legally designated family member of the veteran it's possible to get financial assistance for the burial and other funeral cost. What documents do you need to submit to the officials in order to determine eligibility: you'll need the veteran's SSI#, date of birth, and the veteran's military status history which can be found on DISCHARGE PAPERS which are known as a DD214.
