The shortness is odd but the troopers were too. I wonder if you could swap the torso with a bit longer one to give him a bit more height.

It looks cool but...man that height is super underwhelming. Gonna hold off personally, just cancelled my preorder of this one.

Looks great. A definite fave trooper of mine. The only problem is the trooper's name. In 1989, Hasbro called him "Semi-Automatic Weapon Viper" and designated him as the "Cobra Heavy Machine Gunner". The weapon that they used was loosely based off of the FN M249 SAW that had come out in 1984. SAW stood for Squad Automatic Weapon. The semi-auto (civilian) version was the FN M249S that came out in 1986, but was designated "light machine gun" because FN made it weigh lesser than the full auto version. S.A.W. was never meant to be an acronym for "semi-auto weapon". Hasbro should have corrected that on the filecard to say "Squad Automatic Weapon". This is a mistake on Hasbro and they should've addressed this for clarification. I don't think a Cobra Heavy Machine Gunner would be using a semi-automatic, light machine gun on the battlefield. I mean, look at the figure's gear; heavy armor and a belt feed. You don't use a belt feed for semi-auto.

That is a little disappointing that he is a little smaller than the standard Joe figure. I was expecting him to be a little bigger.

If he’s just a regular viper then he should be just a bit bigger still. Because an average size guy wearing heavy armor is going to be a bit bigger than an average sized guy in regular armor.

Cobra Commander got 15 kills and dropped a Juggernaut suit. Decent KD for a guy in his 70's.

dang, disappointing seeing the arms still struggle to lift up the sides, those mushroom pegs in the shoulders are going to have stress marks and start ripping in no time (happened with my Talon)

Out of all the Joes I had when I was a kid, SAW Viper is up there with Snakes Eyes v4 as one of the most memorable. Great video as always!

This is a great review. I will skip out on it. It's just the lazy paint apps on the shells. I'd like to see Hasbro put some passion into some of this. I dun mind that he is squat, but that weapon should hv had better paint apps.

Hands being removable will forever be odd to me in terms of action figures.
