obi wan is a compulsive liar. the jedi were aware of his tendencies and used it to their advantage numerous times sending him on deep cover missions and behind the senate's back. it would explain so much. he frequently states non truths and half truths as facts such as yoda being the one who trained him that vader murdered luke's father, that he didn't own any droids and didnt remember r2d2 or that ahsoka was going to be his apprentice.
