OH MY GOSH CHAPPELL I LOVE HER SM
ОтветитьCLICKED THIS IMMEDIATELY
ОтветитьYASSSS SO PRETTYYY, need to try acrylic on paper for myself now !!
ОтветитьAhhhhh, you’ve inspired me to paint a portrait in acrylic gouache! I’ve only ever done them in watercolor (except once when I was starting out ..I used cheap simply Rowney acrylics and it was a HORRIBLE experience lol)
Omg I’m so excited.. why have I not ever thought about this? I’ve always just used acrylic gouache for landscapes and stuff ❤😂
Stunning oh my goodness 🩷
ОтветитьH O T T O G O!!!
ОтветитьThis was a great video, not only do I love your art, but I also love Chappell and this was just so comforting. Music, space, everything I loved.
ОтветитьI ONLLLLYYY use acrylic paint on paper its my absolute fav!! Using it on canvas is genuine torture. This piece came out so gorgeous
ОтветитьLET'S GO, LESBIANS LET'S GOOOO!!!
She looks absolutely stunning, you really slayed with this piece <3
Do what your artist in-stink says. Love this portrait! For anyone who hates acrylics, I recommend wooden panels and paint on them. Much more smoother and easily framed.
Ответитьacrylic on paper is my favorite!!! and using a glazing medium with the acrylic as well 💖 this piece is so beautiful, love chappell!!!
ОтветитьAppreciate all the observations you shared about doing the painting. I enjoy working on paper :)
Ответитьmy favourite medium to paint with is acrylic inks! i feel like not many talk about it, but its much thinner than acrylic paint but still super opaque
ОтветитьHey this may be a weird question but what kind of paper did u use? Any time i try acrylics on paper its really transparent and watery which may be a problem with my paints actually lol
Ответитьi actually really liked how the hair turned out! i think going in with all the different colour variations helped with giving it some dimension, I struggle with hair so much too but I've found that if you stick with a method it'll smooth itself out eventually lol
ОтветитьOk someone help me because I can’t get acrylic to work on paper. What am I missing? Agreed, painting curls is so hard.
ОтветитьBeautiful piece Al! I really loved listening to your thoughts while you painted. Love the colours in the skin and hair. 💜💜
ОтветитьOil paint is my medium for life but this video makes me think I can try acrylics on paper!
ОтветитьI think you cracked the code for me on why I don’t necessarily like acrylic. I have only ever tried it on canvas. 😅
ОтветитьThis turned out so well!! You did such an incredible job, I love all the colour variation wow
Acrylic paint is one of those mediums that I pick up once or twice a year thinking it’ll be fun, but it like. Never is for me lol. I think I just can’t handle the stress of my paint even potentially drying up on my palette. But I’ve learned to love oils, somewhat under duress (I took two semesters of life painting classes where oils were a requirement) and I think my go-to surface for oils is actually stone paper. It’s so cheap and you don’t have to gesso it, and the paint moves really well. I’ve been oil painting roughly once a week for a year and a half, and I still haven’t used solvents at all.
Still you can do some great work with acrylics and I love that it works for other artists, even if it doesn’t for me!!
H-O-T - T-O - G-O🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥
Ответитьthis is so in time, i literally bought acrylics for the first time yesterday!
ОтветитьAcrylics on paper and on wood is so wonderful. ❤
I always hated acrylics on canvas it isn’t the same even with an underpainting. I do recommend give it a try too even on a small piece of paper.
I love the way you attacked that hair! ❤
Ответитьit's amazing that you're able to create such realistic portraits with any medium! It looks like oils 😍
ОтветитьI've always loathed acrylics, but this video made me realize what I dislike about them probably has more to do with cheap canvases (i.e., weird grid texture, hard to blend, plastic looking, etc.). Had a hunch that a matte medium would help me enjoy them but never wanted to invest. That may not be necessary on paper though! I really like the effect you achieved.
ОтветитьU are my favorite artists favorite artist ❤
ОтветитьI definitely know what you mean about not being able to get acrylic paint to move when you're trying for details with small brushes. I think 2 things (in combination, even) can solve that problem. 1) the actual paint you're using - it could help to go for artist quality acrylics, and even better, maybe invest in a couple of soft body or even fluid/high flow acrylics. Like, just grab a white and a black, for example. 2) acrylic mediums! imo mediums are magical and paint's best friend. You would want to get something that doesn't cut down on the opacity too much though, which is a little hard to achieve even for mediums, but if you go with something along the lines of a pouring medium, that lowers the viscosity and keeps the opacity reasonably well. What I use personally is a mix of fluid matte medium and gloss color pouring medium (which I like cuz it is more satin and knocks back the glossiness acrylics can have). I could go on, but...
Also, my qualifications to be giving this advice are that I worked at Blick for 4 years, so I like to think I have a little expertise when it comes to art materials. Also, I have been painting in primarily acrylics the past several years, since I don't have a good space to use oils in, so if I wanted to paint on canvas, I had to make acrylics work for me, even though I definitely started off absolutely hating them!
Ack, I also wanted to mention that for small details, maybe get a really small liner brush? That can really help with pulling lines, when used instead of a round brush or a spotter.
I'll stop giving unsolicited advice rn again, sorry 😅 just want to help solve your promble! let me know if you would like specific product recs, btw. And it goes without saying, of course, I loved the video, especially how you go into details regarding the paints and techniques! Okay, bye 🙂
Did you use like a cardstock for the paper so it didn't buckle?
ОтветитьNgl I had never even heard of Chappel Roan before but I had clicked on your video because I like them but also because I saw something on FB about her the day before. I didn’t read it because I had no idea who the heck she is. I feel like I don’t keep up with what’s trendy but I listened to her song Pink Pony Club after watching your video and now I’m obsessed. I love her album and I’m like where the heck has this girl been? lol
ОтветитьI loved it.
ОтветитьOMG this is so lovely! You said you're struggling with details and small strokes; I noticed you put a lot of pressure on your brushes even for tiny details. If you go a bit slower, and use less pressure, it might help!
Ответить:))) I LOVE YOUR PAINTINGS SO MUCH (PLEASE FINISH YOUR SELF PORTRAIT)
Ответитьwhat is the 'escot' im proper confused ive googled and found nothing
Ответитьalways in awe of portraiture
ОтветитьLove this! 🔥 This is probably one of my favorite portraits of yours!
ОтветитьHate canvas too I’ve loved painting on wood panels. Did u prime your paper with gesso or no?
Ответить❤❤❤
ОтветитьI love using acrylic paint as base like a gesso in my sketchbook and then use my gouache on top. It is great way to use marker bleed trough papers.
Ответитьfor super small details, I use a little bit of fluid medium so I don't have to worry about the line being wrong. It does make it a little less transparent but way better than diluting it with water
ОтветитьOmg it's giving pre-Raphaelite painting, gorgeous !
