I'll be watching how you fit the pickups like a hawk, I had a similar idea a while ago using a board under the strings, Firebird/Thunderbird style, unfortunately I didn't get the pickups close enough to the strings while allowing enough space for string movement and playability
Oh yes, like a bloody hawk!

After you said (in an earlier video) that you planned to have the pickups inside the hollow body guitar, I was wondering how you planned to mount them. The idea you've shared in this video sounds like a workable solution, especially with the ability to alter the position of each pickup individually. I'm looking forward to the rest of your build.

That’s a nice bit of engineering you have planned. Looking forward to seeing how it works out!

Ah yes. Measure once, measure twice. Somehow do something completely different anyway. That's my trick! :)

Hi Dave - very interesting idea for moveable pickups. However, a couple of considerations - firstly will you be able to obtain the optimum distance between pickup poles and strings? Secondly, although the position of the pups along the scale of the string will make a difference to the tone, as soon as you finger the strings you alter the length of the strings and the places where the strings vibrate anyway. Tone will be more dependent on the structure of the pickups, and things like a bridge plate on a telecaster.

How moveable is moveable? It just occurred to me a slide knob on the front and you could adjust mid song pretty much as simply as a 5 way pickup slider. 🤔

That is going to be a very cool guitar. I like the pickup idea. You and I think alike.

Subscribed to follow the hidden pickups idea. Curious how you're going to get them close enough to the strings to work their best. The new Brad Paisley hidden Tele neck pickup does it with an overpowered ceramic magnet, which is an approach I'm not totally sold on.

It looks like a lot of GGBO entries are going for looks. Thank you for going one step further and looking at performance. I look forward to this journey.

Good job, nice project! What software do you use for modeling the guitar?
