My parents and I struggled when I was growing up, I thought I was the rebellious black sheep of the family. Then Alhamdulilah by Allah's will my parents went to hajj and that changed them for the better. I also changed in my 20's and got more connected with Islam. Now we agree on pretty much everything and realized that what we disagreed on was the cultural part which was not part of Islam at all. It has also mashAllah made me a better Muslim because I don't go by what is said to me anymore, I have to have it verified by the Quran and authentic Sunnah. If it's not there then I don't follow it no matter who in my extended family does. Ofcourse the parts of my culture that doesn't have anything to do with religion or doesn't goes against it I am happy to accept (like the food, clothing, etc.). My religion 100% comes first before anything.

My dad passed away last month (may Allah protect him in the grave and grant him the highest level of Jannah) and I thought he was so strict growing up by realize now that he was trying to protect me and once I became an adult capable of paying the bills and making my own decision, he become cool.

Friends and family might not always be there, but guess what? you have something that's ALWAYS there. Jesus! I know that sometimes it feels like you're alone and the idea of trusting in a God you don't even see seems bizarre at times but hear me out. Just take the time to listen for God in daily life. It says in psalm 34:18 "the Lord is close to the broken-hearted", meaning that in your darkest moments. God is right next to you, hoping you accept the comfort He freely gives. I'm not "forcing Jesus" on anyone but we should all consider a relationship with Him. Anyways God bless! ❤️

While it's easy to just blame the rebellious child as the culprit behind all this mess, the real reason isn't your child.
All these brown parents keep bringing their child into the west and stay ignorant to the fact the environment is completely different from their country. The child is growing up completely under the western influence from school to friends to media. And then on one side are the parents who give this "enforced" version of Islam where they dont really even know themselves how to communicate the truth of Islam to their child. And why we live the way we live and the wisdom of Allah.
If you want to take your kid to the west you have to be three times the parent you'll have to be in a muslim country. And way more intellectually engaged with your child to combat and explain all the moral deviances they're going to see around them.
