The music that plays when dumbo is first trying to fly is amazing, I miss when the music also told a story with the movie instead of being catchy and loud, the violin gives you this feeling of being in the sky with them just pure genius for 1941

I couldnt watch this show much when i was a kid i felt bad for dumbo lol

Fun fact: the main leaders voice actor, Dandy Crow, was Cliff Edward's. Wasnt even black. Nice going Hollywood, can stereotype something that doesn't even track. Morons

When I first seen this. I never knew the crows were meant to be a stereotype. But now when I watch this again many years later. Yep still don’t see it. I always thought that they were silly chill crows

If anything, these crows are an hommage to black people.

This is a GREAT movie btw. And the crows were my favorite characters as a child. And not once did I equate them them to black people, until others outside said I should.

some of my earliest memories are of my dad coming into my room before the sun was up before he left work work and he would whisper “dumboooo dumboooooo,” he loved this movie. Don’t worry he’s still alive i just use past tense since it was so long ago

In the crows' defense, it is kind of funny trying to imagine something as large as a baby elephant trying to fly without any kind of assistance.

It's enough to enjoy the song and its performance. Placing racial labels and hate rhetoric as criticism does nobody good. Clever lyrics, too! " I seen a needle that winks its eye! "

I’m black and I loved the crows

Even though these crows were racist for many reasons ( white actor portraying black voice in a stereotypical manner- main crow named after anti black laws) The song is still one of my favorites.

Lots of comments are telling me racism is taught. 🤷‍♂️

Its execution may be outdated, but the crows are still nice characters. They still helped Dumbo learn to fly.

I like can remember from watching this as a child is that they were cool and Dumbo and all his buddies were the nerds or the “squares” and the cool guys kind of save the day

The name Jim Crow was definitely a poor decision for a name. But other than that I fail to see what made them so offensive. A lot of African American performers sand and danced in that style during that time. Now obviously not anymore.

Alot of people have implicit bias in that they think it's blacks natural place to be inferior. Blacks only have a separate culture because they were discriminated against and made to be an underclass in America through systematic racism. The fact you see nothing wrong with the finished product of systematic racism Jim Crow says it all you have no problem with the norm for blacks to be inferior it's not hurting your pockets or ability to get a job. You see black culture as normal when it shouldn't have existed in this form in the first place.

These guys are clearly racial caricatures (the main crow was originally supposed to be named "Jim" just to have it be painfully on the nose) but I don't mind them that much mostly since they're the only well meaning side characters in this entire film.
