Since 343 moved halo to the slipspace engine, the fundamentals of shooting have been changed. ever since, Halo has felt off....
Here, I'll go over how bungie used to handle things, what 343i has changed and how both controller and KBM fall short with 343's new shooting mechanics.
Aim assist in halo used to be entirely player driven. 343i has implemented changes to the shooting formula that badly damage the player experience.
These new controls dilute player control and make combat feel stiff, and more closed ended.
These new settings also leave the two input methods woefully disparate, failing keyboard and mouse players. I would like to see both input methods reworked and restored to how things used to be.
