This method slightly increases the water pressure. These regulators have gone to embarrassing levels where the shower can hardly function correctly, ESPECIALLY if you have low water pressure. No I don’t want to waste water supply. It’s not a one size fits all fitting.

Lots of ignorant people in the comments thinking this is some crazy thing. Lots of people do this. Theres two schools of thought about saving water. One says these restrictors save water. The other says removing them saves water. The idea being that by removing them for higher pressure/flow, you clean off better so you spend less time in the shower. Just because gov mandates something doesn’t mean it actually saves anything.

This is the caveman solution.

Can't you people understand that when you restrict the flow you stay in the shower longer just trying to wash off your body and especially your hair using about the same amount of water. I always pull that crap out when installing a new shower head.

why those things are a thing? you have a tap for that. you also don't have flow restrictor in bread bag, milk carton and ketchup and mayonaise bottle. yet, people are able to regulate those. i personally open shower 100% for final flush

I've just gone down the rabbit hole on this communist bullshit. I cannot believe how hard they enforce these regulations. I thought it would be easy to find unrestricted high-flow shower heads. I've been ranting about this for days. Controlling the flow of our shower? This has to be unconstitutional on some level and it doesn't do shit to save water. Now we simply have to take 2x more time to fully wet and rinse ourselves.

And why do most shower manufacturers install the water restrictor in the first place?

Or just buy a shower head with a higher flow rate...most people with low pressure have a 1.8 gpm,just get one with a 2.5 gpm flow.

Unless you live in a dry climate like southern California I honestly wouldn’t worry about water waste and if your really that worried about it turn your shower off when you soap yourself up then turn it back on to rinse yourself off. It’s not worth having all these special filters on to save water it just makes showering less enjoyable.

This is pretty much mandatory at my house. Having a private well the water pressure here starts at half or less of anyone getting water from the city. Restricting that further means that I can't even effectively was the soap off my skin in the shower and end up itchy all day.

These do have their uses and help save water but they are not needed in all places and can even waste water in cases like mine where I was spending 3 times as long in the shower rinsing off before removing the this.

FAKER!! It's definitely NOT this easy. You'll need to use the needle nose to break through the center portion of the blue part FIRST, then you can pry it out.

Hate low flow shower heads. I always remove the restrictors from any shower head I get. I'd prefer my shower done in ten minutes with high water pressure than a twenty minute one with crap water pressure.
At the end of the day, low flow doesn't conserve any water because you end up taking a longer shower and wasting more water.

found one between the link and the pip as well, mine had 2. took em both out, i dont need soap anymore, the water just strips my skin
