Thanks a great bunch for uploading this!
ОтветитьHighly appreciative, and know it's out of your control, but for Christ's sake dump the super fruity VO commentator (I know you can't). I'm a Brit and almost puke when I hear him. Should have posted this about 50 years ago.
ОтветитьThe fastback "Spitfires" were called GT6. They had inline 1996cc 6 cylinder engines. They did have a difficult time coping with North American conditions and many did become "junk" rather quickly. Now, the survivors are interesting collectibles. David
Ответитьwhy did they cover the head lights up
ОтветитьDavid 'Obbs was a cool host on Legends.
ОтветитьYes, the Triumph GT6 was beat up in the press over reliability but my GT6 is still on the road. Bought new in 1972 it was my daily driver for many years and I have over 150, 000 miles on it. The car never let me down, the key to longevity is maintenance. Great car, still gets attention today!!
ОтветитьToo bad the production Spitfires including the GT6 were such collections of junk. The BMC Sprite and MGB were much better built and faster, too.
ОтветитьDavid Hobbs is a class act.
ОтветитьThis really was the 'Golden Age of Motor Racing' with real cars and real drivers and very little hype !!!!!
Ответитьlol - i wonder which driver is the Dutchman ;-p
ОтветитьGeez I miss this show so much. I used to get up an hour early when I was in High School back in the day to watch it because it would be shown at around 6am usually. WE NEED SPEEDVISION BACK
ОтветитьThanks for up loading ,great era
ОтветитьEnjoyed that, thanks.
ОтветитьAnglo-American??? I know what it means to be but why would Shelby be considered that.
ОтветитьAh yes ... I had a 69 GT6 MK2 (IRS) ... looked fast even when parked ... when your "back side" is about 6 inches above the road, 120 feels really fast. The 2 liter inline six was "one of the smoothest engines ever built".
ОтветитьLegends of Motorsport and Victory by Design! My two favorites of the older, “serious” shows (as opposed to Top Gears’ not so serious, albeit entertaining, approach).
ОтветитьSo that's where the Ginetta G40 designers got their inspiration from....
ОтветитьThey were a beautiful car. I drove corvettes at the time and I wanted one, until I drove one.
ОтветитьRaymond Baxter doing the race commentary...
ОтветитьI have always liked those years of le Mans.
Ответитьplease bring back speed.
ОтветитьHuge fan of David Hobbs, a gentleman racer like no other, the real thing to this old man.

ОтветитьIf they got a Triumph to finish Le Mans, I'm guessing the first thing they did was put the Lucas bits in the garbage and install Bosch or Delco Remy electricals.
ОтветитьLove David Hobbs, bet that spitfire is worth a fortune these days.
ОтветитьBest show ever
ОтветитьThe number 1 race for me. Been around for many many years.
