Love capercaillies 💕 Every detail of their appearance is unique and gorgeous: their chin tufts, their scarlet eyebrows, their ivory beaks, their fan tails and fluffy, tufted bottoms! They scuttle around bent double, kind of like Groucho Marx, with that crazy gleam in their eye, and make that insane glurking noise, like drains or popping corks 🍾🍾🍾 They remind me of the spoof ornithology page in Geoffrey Willans and Ronald Searle’s “Molesworth” series, which features a cartoon bird with its beak open and the caption “A Glurk, trolling” 🦃

Just a note that if you now do what David is doing in the video back then, you face a large fine and potentially a prison sentence - you're not even supposed to deliberately look for them any more. There is great guidance online on how to safely view the creatures without risking their crazily dwindling numbers.
