@KTMONEY100 its not an overhand grip. Its actually called a "hook grip". Insane none the less.

@samsungpropel1 He's 19 and weighed 245lbs this day... he doesn't pull over/under, he's been using hook grip for a long time

the way chris lifted his PR reminded me of benedikt magnussons world record deadlift. controlled lifting, controlled lowering. next record holder right here. keep it up!

You guys all did a great job. Chris, 805lbs very imprssive but your regular grip on that kind of weight is incredible. Keep up the good work.

@roryrook - 02.08.2012 08:10

How tall is the guy who pulls the 805? He looks very lean for 245. He's DL freak. Mixed grip, he'd add another #50 right off the top.

No sarcasm at all. I take weightlifting, powerlifting and strength training for sports much too seriously for that. They've a part of my life since I was 11 years old and now I'm...well...lets just say, a bit older. And I'm old enough to know when someone know's better than me. Thx again.

WTF? Chris Hickson's grip is not human. Honestly he has as strong a grip as anyone in the world and his deadlift ain't far behind.

Ответить
@kevisthegoat
@kevisthegoat - 29.09.2012 20:17

I guess it helps that he uses rolling momentum to lift it up. Not a proper deadlift.

It looks like Chris's back is rounded at the top when he lifts. Is that okay to do, because I see some of the super heavy lifters sorta rounding. Or am I way off?

Form will break near max weight. And upper back rounding is fine, its when lower starts to round that it can get dangerous.

I'm sure you know... but the 1015 record has been beaten many times over... savickas with 1117 being one of them at the arnold classic last year. as for kevin... even if rolling the weight aint a proper part of deadlifting (i dont think it is either)... what this 19 y/o (chris) can do is just fucking insane.. you gotta admit. He lifted 585 like i lift 245... its fucking incredible.

It's not double overhand grip, it's hook grip, a much stronger and secure grip than double overhand, it's just most people can't take the pain.

hm I'm wondering - why is it that all the best deadlifters seem to hyperextend their back a bit at the top of the lift. I do it too and I'm wondering if I should just keep doing it because it really feels natural to lift that way. In this video it seems to me every lift they all pull back PAST standing straight up. Yet all the form nazis claim you should just stand straight then go back down. Can someone explain please? I would appreciate it.

Savickas dead lifted from a higher bar position than Benedikt Magnusson. Zydrunas has yet to hit the 1000 pound mark from standard bar height.
