Genie+ Changed: Is It Worth The $$$ In Disney's Hollywood Studios?! | How-to Use It In Disney World

I would love to see a Genie+ vs. Standby challenge between you and Alan. One of you uses Genie+, another uses only standby and counts how much time is spent waiting for rides, as well as how many attractions are completed. I think you should also track steps too, to see how much moving around is needed to get between LLs vs. the standby person just walking around the park without zig-zagging or backtracking. This would give a really complete picture of whether Genie+ is worth someone's time and money!

This was super informative, thank you! I didn't know about modifying or using the top picks menu. I think genie+ can be very, very worth it from a monetary cost perspective, however I still think it's a total drag from a time cost perspective. As someone who can only go to DW every few years, the idea of sitting and refreshing in my phone instead of looking at all the cool things around me is something I'm not always willing to do.

I just looking forward to the rest of the series in general. We have a big group going in a few month and I know the first concern will be cost. But I like that you have the data at the end. Then we may be able to pick what days to get genie plus better.

I'm curious to see what you think on combos of parking hopping and the new Genie+.

I haven’t been there since you were able to “modify”. Are you able to book a ride, then modify another you previously booked? Are you able to modify it since you already booked it and even though you had just booked something else? Ex- book tower for 7pm at 2pm. 4pm book Mickey/Minnie. 4:15pm notice a better return time for tower. Can I do that?

Just wouldn’t work with a bigger group or just kiddos 🤷🏻‍♀️ me alone with my kiddo I can do a lot of stuffs (our record was 13 rides/characters using genie+ at MK on low season) but add one more person and that list goes doooown. Between bathroom breaks, stroller parking, kid asking for a specific snack on the other side of the park 😅 but still super helpful and as usual we use all of our knowledge from your videos during our parks and have the best Time 🙌🏻

Thank you so much for this video. We are going down in 3 weeks and planning to buy Genie + for MK and HS. My big question is - is it worth it for Animal Kingdom or Epcot? I am on the fence about it. At first I said no but watching wait times lately it seems like 2 hours after park opens that all the rides in AK seem to be 1-2 hour waits which I will not do. I will be rope dropping because I am staying onsite. I have a plan but not sure if it will work. Hopefully you will do AK or HS video before I get there.

At this point I’m so discombobulated and confused with their logic behind Genie+ that standby looks good. I’ll bring a nice book and keep myself occupied. Sigh. Im getting too old to remember all these rules 😂

I think I’m going old school and hittin up standby from now on. Genie+ changes faster than most ppl change underwear 😂 (y’all best not with the impending jokes 😂), and each time the new “rules” sound more and more like the amendments you vote on during local elections…you’re not REALLY supposed to understand what all the lingo actually means but u sure do have to vote on something (just me? 😂). If there were a test on Genie, I’d repeat grades 🤦🏼‍♀️.

Wait a minute, so can each person in your party book different lighting lanes? Or are they all the same for everyone? Like could I book Rockin Rollercoaster for my family on mine while my dad books Tower of Terror for us on his?

Alien swirling saucer is just so much fun… not worth waiting more than 10 minutes, but we did it a couple of times in a row, cause it made us laugh

It's almost like a regular ticket without Genie + is not worth it! Like you have to add Genie to the cost of the ticket and just consider that the price of admission. I guess you could hit most of these rides/attractions in one day without it but if you are spending 7-8 EXTRA HOURS IN LINE, are you even going to enjoy it or is everyone just going to be cranky and exhausted?

I cry when I watch Beauty and the Beast all the time! I take issue with your point "Don't waste your Genie+ with such rides or shows like Disney Junior and Star Tours". That comment was certainly valid when you booked 3 Fastpasses 2 months prior to your visit to the park. But since you're now paying for the service, the more attractions you can book on Genie+ the better. My biggest problem with it, besides it not being free, is that you are CONSTANTLY on your phone, looking at it, fiddle-faddling with it, and double checking it.

when rides are "out of lightning lanes", do they ever open any more up later? Or is it standby only? Thanks.

Can you do a video at Hollywood studios but only the big rides for genie plus. Leave at the shows? So we can see how likely you can do the biggest rides.

I'm not the biggest fan of Genie+. Still wait times for the big rides at HS like Slinky Dog and SWRR are often more than 50 minutes. So it either use Genie or go to the parks later during the day, after 4pm. Which doesn’t always work.

Directional question. Hollywood Studios "pathway" has changed since I was there last. Which direction do I head to get to ROR. Doing "map" videos of each park might be helpful.

Love your content but it would be great if you mentioned the time of year you are at the parks. Since certain times of the year what you show in your videos are extremely hard to do and other times easy. Example using genie+ to go on tons of rides in one day. Easy off season, extremely hard on busy seasons.

Molly has convinced me to buy genie+. Mind you, there's just two of us. If i was going with the whole family, i would still be questioning the extra cost.

Watching these videos makes me feel more confident with Genie+ but makes me very anxious about getting a lighting lane for Slinky. The last time we were there, it closed due to weather and never re opened when I had my lighting lane already booked. Hoping I can make it this time around!
