I can declutter all I want but if I don't put stuff away after I'm done then my place still gets cluttered up with the things I use daily ! Aside from regular decluttering (because yes, stuff keeps coming in) this makes the most difference in my home. I don't have to constantly go back and clean up past messes, I can move on through my day or pivot to any other action seamlessly. I'm definitely all about making future me happier !

My drop zone does get out of control pretty fast. Good tip.

Rule #3--yes! My laundry room is in my basement, so I try to take something down there (besides dirty clothes, something that "lives" in the basement), or bring something back up (in addition to the clean laundry), every time I do the stairs. At my age, I don't want to waste a trip! lol! 😁

If you put a trash can in every room, you don't have to.go.far to throw it out. I find.trash about anywhere in your house to be so depressing. Gettting rid of it fast is so helpful.

My favorite is #6 a later bin most of the time I will delay doing any type of organizing because I will come across something that needs a new home or doesn’t have a home yet and in that moment my brain can’t workout how to solve the location problem 🤷🏽‍♀️then I will slow down to the point that the momentum will come to a screeching halt 🛑the things that could have gotten done is halted as well now if I create a small bin to put a few items in my rhythm can keep moving forward ❤thank you my friend 👍🏾

Yes to the drop zone cleanup. I don’t do this until it’s crisis point, so that’s an excellent one I will use starting this week. I keep a “giveaway” box in a conspicuous spot in bedroom and kitchen, and post monthly on a local Buy Nothing group.

Great tips! Favorite tip is getting rid of something even if it was very costly and no longer serves you. The money has already been spent! It stuck with me from another video of yours a long while back! 👍🏼😊

So cute how you have future self in the background. I try and put things away as soon as I get home before I sit down and am too lazy to get back up. I also have a routine of clearing emails daily first thing in the morning so they don't build up. Any thing I feel I want to save I group in folders.
Getting rid of more clothes as we speak and a sweater I was holding onto because my Mom gave it to me, but you made me see I need to let it go since I haven't worn it in while. Thanks.

After watching edit: This really did inspire me to address some of the things that were bothering me, because like you said, slow progress is still progress. I had a major clothes pile at the end of my bed, so I just made that better by hanging up some blazers and things I knew I had room for. Other stuff will have to wait until I make the room. I did the tip of taking something when I left, which was laundry for a quick load. Visually reduced a lot of stress. So thanks again!

I happen to take a lot of medication, and I have this nice pill box with every day of the week AM/PM and it takes so little time to fill it when it's empty, but I always procrastinate and them cant remember if I took the medication for that day. It was staring at me while watching this video, and I filled it by #4. These are some good things to do

I've been telling people for years that I don't want surprise gifts. I tell people what I want or if there's nothing I need, then to donate the amount to a charity of my choice. This side steps the awkward 'excitement' of receiving the gift if you don't like it & thr decluttering later on.
