This video walks through how to get the steering shaft out of the bolster on a Farmall B. It is quite simple and just backs out from the front of the tractor. I had to take this out to replace the steering shaft seal that was leaking at the point where the shaft connects to the steering shaft U-joint. It was a pretty simple exercise. And this could be done easily enough with the tractor on its wheels. I happen to have the bolster off to clean and paint, yet this could be done in the tractor.
