Reaction To THINGS GERMANS LOVE (and foreigners just don’t understand why)

the key point with trekking clothing is that although it is not classic street clothing, it still retains the look and full functionality of normal street clothing, while adding other aspects. Trekking clothing is most commonly seen in spring and fall, when weather conditions can change quickly within a day. Some Movies actually were more or less boring in the original film and only got really good and succesful by the Dubbing. Terrence Hill and Bud Spencer for example, or a series Like „die Zwei“. Thanks Rainer Brandt. Who sadly past away quite recently. RIP! Most Dubs are really really good.

What she doesn't think of, about the german tourists in New Zeeland is, that they are on vacation. So, they don't have their whole wardrobe to choose from. They have to decide what clothes they will take with them and therefore they choose the most practical ones and wear them then every day. Out of vacation it's a bit different, but still we like to wear the practical way, because of the german weather 😜

Usually I stick to the original, but the best way to experience an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie - especially Terminator - is when you are listening to the great voice of Thomas Danneberg (who also did the voice for Sylvester Stallone and many others). And that is kinda funny since Schwarzenegger is a native german speaker.

german dubs are very good and widely known actors get their "personal" dub actors. I mostly prefer subtitles, but there are some animated movies where I just love the german dub, especially when it's something I remember from childhood (I grew up german). mentioning german's obsession over jack wolfskin without saying birkenstock in the same breath feels a bit weird to me, I guess because my own dad and my father-in-law loved both, but I'll have to agree they aren't synonymous by far. I consider myself too fab and sparkling to prefer function over form to the degree germans do, but they REALLY do. I agree it makes sense, just not for me. used to say 'I no longer let my parents tell me what to wear, so why should the weather?', but among the german public you can easily feel like the odd one out.

About dubbing: Most dubbed movies and shows have a really good dub, and we watch it dubbed. Some however have a noticeable bad voice acting, and that's especially true for Animations, so my boyfriend and I switch over to English instead. Often, the German dub is also clearer and easier to understand audio vise.
I personally want to watch everything in the original English when I watch on my own, because I'm so used to it by now.
Also, famous actors have a specific Voice Actor here, so their voice sounds the same in all the movies. And some voice actors speak several actors, which can be very funny when both actors are in the same movie. The Expandables was quite funny for that reason alone (...and only that reason...) because you had 2 or 3 actors that are normally not in the same movie, suddenly voiced by the same Voice Actor XD
Or a Voice Actor narrates an advertisement and you feel like a specific actor is narrating it instead, because you recognize the voice XD

The dubbing is excellent and in the recent years the german voices fit the characters better than the original actors voices. Watch famous series like Star Trek Voyager. The voice actors are so good that they even give depth to scenes which are flat and dull in English.

I have a "Outdoor" Jacket - buyed maybe 20 Years ago and still looking like new. You can add a winter "inner layer" or remove it so it is warm enough for Spring and Autumn without and with you can use it in winter. Still water-proof. So why should I not use it as every day jacket in this seasons?

And I ignore the newest haute couture style of the year. After now 20 Years the jacket was 3 times the newest shit style and "Oh last year hip color" - inbetween.

Is it really better to buy a new cheap made jackets every 2 months only to increase the garbage and give little children in Vietnam some work in the coloring with poisonous colors (that ends in the backyard)?

I love beeing outdoors, so I also wear so called Trekking-Gear.
Maybe I had just bad luck, BUT Jack Wolfskin gear isn't that sturdy and reliable as I wished it would be.
Personally I prefer Fjällraven, Salewa, Snugpak and TT. Yeah, they may not come cheap, but they can last a decade or even longer.

German dub is way better than most other dubs (as the woman in the video already explained on the polish example).
But over the last one or two decades I really have been appreciating the original versions of numerous movies and TV shows.
Great examples, where the german dub kinda suck are (imho) "The Expanse" or "Lucifer". The former looses completly the belta-lang in ger dub and with it all the wonderful dialects the actors are bringing in. The latter is just unwatchable for me in ger dub. Imo they messed up to choose the voice actor they did. Tom Ellis' voice has so many intonations (I hope I did not make this word up), so many levels of emotions, which the german voice actor isn't able to deliver...
On the other hand, "Game of Thrones" for example had a really, really good dub. Though I still prefer watching in english 😃

girl has never been to Spain or France. they only wear trekking, hiking or biking clothing. I work at a museum and I've had spaniards come in dressed in full biking gear... to look at an exhibition....

When it comes to animated movies,series,the german Version is way better than the english og.somehow they got rid of voice actors and now just cast big names,who don't know what they're doing.

Trekking gear? You never know when it's going to rain, or snow, or a volcano breaks out. Or the train is late, and you have to walk home at night.
Germans also walk by foot a lot more than for example Americans.
As you said, there is no bad weather, only bad clothing.

Voice acting creates jobs. Germans also don't like these high pitch voices or chewing gum accents.
And reading subtitles distracts from the visuals.😉

I'm German... I like hiking... I've got dozends of shirts, vests and jackets of Jack Wolfskin, The North Face, Mammut... Hits the point pretty well :D

For Hugh Jackman, his German voice actor is Thomas Nero Wolff - who is also the new standard voice actor for Tom Hanks AND he was the German voice for "Monkey Fist" in "Kim Possible"
Someone who's got REALLY famous with his great voice dubbing a Hollywood actor is Manfred Lehmann, the German voice for Bruce Willis^^
Mentioning Brad Pitt, his German standard voice actor is Tobias Meister, who is also the German voice for Master Yoda from Star Wars and many, many, many, many.... more XD

Our German voice actors are just the peak of arts and should be awarded und recognized like those in Japan ❤

It's not just the dubbing because of the translation, it has saved boring films completely. The recently deceased Rainer Brandt was one of these masters of dubbing. The best example is the rather average crime series "The Persuaders!" ("Die 2" in German) with Tony Curtiss and Roger Moore. In the German version they only make stupid jokes in hair-raising situations.
"Oh, you paint?" "Did you think I massage the brush."
"Thank you, very pushy." instead of very friedly.
"That is the worst coffee I have ever had in my life?"" It's not coffee, it's dishwater.""Oh, sorry, but then again it is very rich in taste."
"Would you like something wet up there?""A little Scottish friend in liquid form.""With pre-sucked ice cubes?"

Dubbed movies are standard in Germany. And I think they do it really well and it makes watching a movie convenient. Subtitles are a distraction and I cannot enjoy films with subtitles as much as dubbed versions. But they all have a kind of artificial sound. The voice-actors sound nearly better, you can understand every word, it just isn’t natural. Some actors have stupid voices in the dubbed films. (Bad examples: Eddie Murphy, Jeff Goldblum, Robert De Niro) As I can understand English, I prefer viewing the original version with ENGLISH subtitles, not German. Because translation is never perfect - or sometimes: too perfect. And if I cannot follow, because they are talking too fast, I get help from the subtitles. I would never again watch a Hitchcock or a Tarantino film in the dubbed version. Never.

I've heared it a lot from americans in my life how surprised they are we germans dub everything, but thats so one sided thinking. What if 90% of the movies and series were NOT made in the US but in Europe or elsewhere so they would have to watch them in chinese, german, russian, italian etc... Then they still would prefer the original actor's voice and learn a different language to understand everything or prefer reading subtitles ?? I highly doubt it... And there was this show "DARK" on Netflix some years ago which was very popular, but it was a german show with german actors speaking yes: german - and guess what: they then dubbed it into english, so english speakers could watch and understand it, so there you have it.... Many english native speakers are just so used to it that everything is in english (like music songs as well) they just take it for granted and cannot think from the other perspective, but I was very glad especially as a kid grewing up with Sesame Street or Star Trek that I could watch all that in MY own language... And by the way some movies and TV shows are even better in the german version than in the original. Especially stuff from the 70's or 80's. Other movies are better in their english original so I like I can choose and enjoy both versions. And also by the way, we don't call it "dubbing" but "synchronizing" because the translation is done in a way, it not only matches the meaning of the sentences but also how the words are spoken and lips forming sounds, so it is very LIPSYNC as well (as good as possible) and not just "dubbing" an audio track.... And done by real actors of course, not just translators. But Antoinette here said she now loves it, so she's got it.

dubbing takes away easter eggs and jokes mostly but it is ok to have a choice. As a kid i watched a lot NL tv, they do subtitles, helps when learning english (and dutch).

What i dont like about her is thst she did not only ignored my but alsonother peoples advice about her Audio as if she is above improovibg her video quality or something and shes in germany for so many years already with a kid and all and she still considers herself a gorigner and seam to puzzled about the most simple of things like huh? At this point isnt it just better for her to go back to newze'

I cant stand dubbed movies or tv shows... once I started watching everything in original i couldn't understand why most people watch dubbed versions. You can't really appreciate the work of an actor when you don't hear his voice, his emotions. And pretty often the dubbing completely ignores dialects and accents, at least in video games! When I walk through a south american jungle in a game and every npc speaks perfect german... that kills immersion!
Yes we have one of the best dubbing industries in the world, but i stick to the original!

German bread is what I missed most in the UK. 😂I didn't have any problems seeing movies or TV shows in english without subtitels, I went along well with people, but I really, really missed a german breakfast...

As a German, I am quite proud of our dubbing community. They always do a fantastic job. This is also because we were translating American and Movies from all over the world shortly after the war. Of course, it was also because our cinema and film culture was largely in ruins.

I love English and I started watching movies only in English a few years ago, but I have to say, the quality of German voice actors is amazing. You don't miss out on anything except the lip sync, and you only notice that if you focus on it. Sometimes the German dub is way better, like Bud Spencer/Terence Hill movies or "Die Zwei" (the persuaders). Which reminds me, I have to buy that box.

About dubbing. The thing is this. The german actors, who dub the movies are reaaaally good actors. So. If the Movie is an english movie, with tripple AAA actors, I enjoy it in the original version. But, if the original actors are not that great, the movie gains with the voices of the better german actors. And thats, where i choose the dubbed version.

A lot of dubbing actually makes or breaks a movie. For example, the old Danish film series "Olsenbanden" (in German "die Olsenbande") was very popular in the GDR (East Germany) because the East German film agency DEFA made very good German dubs, while West Germany made their own dubs, which were much more low-effort and corny (even by 1970s standards), which is nowadays regarded as the main reason the films never became quite as popular there.

There are actually a few legendary German voice actors because they have a very distinctive voice and are also used regularly. According to a Wikipedia entry, Rainer Brandt, who unfortunately passed away this year, dubbed over 26 actors, including Bud Spencer, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Jean Paul Belmondo, Tony Curtis, Oliver Reed, etc. Sometimes you notice that you are dubbing another actor has already heard.

So German bread doesn't have to be extremely hard, it depends on the type. White bread should be fluffy, whereas black bread and gray bread are harder but are still easy to chew compared to a piece of wood. I might like the bread that is available in Great Britain or Denmark when I get so old that my teeth no longer work. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the quality of bread has declined in Germany. Small bakers are becoming fewer and fewer and the large bakeries are very profit-oriented, i.e. short fermentation times, which is not good for the bread.

Mostly dubbed version for german cinema is done much better than the original (English or other versions)
Only lower budger dubbing for serials ect I prefer Original English version/with subtitles for non-english movies.

There are some very recognizable german voice actor. Klaus-Dieter Klebsch is the german voice for (among MANY others) Alec Baldwin and Hugh Laurie.

Laurie found a fantastic voice for the icy sarcasm and Klebsch just nailed it.

About the dubbing... We didn't know the real voice of the actor and we are used to not paying too close attention to the lips.
I'm fluent in English and still doing mind the dubbed movies and series.
And yes, it's always the same voice actor for a certain actor. If he stops working and someone else takes over it's really weird for us, too.
