How to Connect 4k UHD DVD player to AV Receiver

Can I play True 5.1 containt via laptop?
Or is any internet radio stream 5.1audio ?
I don't want to use DVD/ Blue ray player.

I have a question concerning my connections. I just purchased a LG c9 tv.
I also purchased a Panasonic thatruns all dvds from Blu-ray to 4 k. I run it through my 9 year old Arcam AVR 360 amp.
I hdmi cable from my cable box , 1 cable from my DVD player to my amp then 1 cable to my tv. I’ve been running it this way on my previous Pioneer Elite tv for years with no problem. The problem I’m having is my Blu-ray Discs I’ve tryed playing have sound but no video. And my regular dvds work perfectly. I ant figure out what I’m doing wrong any suggestions

So you plug a hi speed HDMI cable from the 4kUHD disc player into an HDMI IN on the back of the receiver, and connect a 2nd HDMI cable from the receiver to an HDMI IN port on the TV. I have done that and gotten “no signal” on the tv screen. Oddly, once or twice while I was hooking it up, the screen lit up with the “SONY” logo, but just for a second, then went back to “no signal”. So something is trying to work...
Questions: Must my receiver have dedicated “4kUHD HDMI” As my hdmi ports on my receiver don’t state that (Pioneer VSX-521). It was slightly before 4K was everywhere). 2. My Sony UBP-X700 player doesn’t have optical, but it does have coax (RCA) audio out, and the receiver has an RCA audio in. If I connect the HDMI directly into the TV, then connect the digital coax audio out to the receiver, would that work for enabling surround sound (in synch so audio & video match)? OR should I get a new receiver w/Hi-Speed 4k UHD jacks? Thanks to anyone that can help! I’m going crazy!

Okay...I'v tried several confgs., on hooking up my Smart Samsung LED; TV A/V Receiver; Set Top Box (cox) and my new Sony X800M2 DVD/BD Player.
I can't get NET FLEX to play surround. Ready Go.... (1) I ran one HDMI cord from my TV..to the HDMI of the receiver/MONITOR
(2) HDMI cord from my Set Top Box (cox) to SAT/CBL A/V Receiver. 
(3) HDMI cable from video/audio (player) to DVD HDMI.

Nothing, not NET FLEX Surround audio, i have audio only through the TV, (stern). Anyone????

You should mention that the Toslink is a maximum of 5.1 in most cases.

So you should have one HDMI ultra high speed 2.0 from Blu-ray DVD player to you 4K UHD TV(to get better picture) and optical cable (to get better sound) from Blu-ray DVD player to your AVT ?

So with my 4K player I have ark HDMI from receiver to the tv , and I tried to hook the DVD to the receiver I was getting audio but no picture ? I thought the ark connection would give the visual I assuming a need a 2nd HDMI cable from the DVD to the TV?

I'm using the red-yellow-white rca cables to connect the two via the video/audio in/out ports. Now I've got the audio coming through, but no video. Any suggestions?

It's 4K Blu ray not 4K DVD I know you probably think that because your convinced that DVD is Digital Video Disc but the V stands for versatile and Blu ray is it's own thing that includes 4K Blu ray.
