'Honeymoon - Luna di Miele', formally called 'Luna di Miele - Honeymoon: A Musical Journey to Venice', is the twenty-third album by Rondò Veneziano, released on August 20, 1999 by Koch Records and reissued by Deltatrade in 2008. It is the third concept album released by the group; the tracks, whose titles are inspired by famous locations in Venice, aim to represent an ideal honeymoon in the lagoon city. La Fenice, in particular, is a piece for piano, synthesizers, and strings dedicated to the Gran Teatro La Fenice; section A is by Reverberi, while section B is inspired by 'Prélude, Choral et Fugue', composed by César Franck in 1884. As with most of their other albums, this also includes elements of contemporary classical music, symphonic prog and Baroque pop.
In an interview conducted in 1998, Rondò Veneziano is quoted as saying the following about the album:
“Why Honeymoon? Simple — it musically brings together the entire journey the group has taken so far, and at the same time, it's one of the main themes associated with the city of Venice. It’s a fundamental piece that had been left in the drawer and sooner or later needed to be properly developed. The craftsmanship in this album is truly high, starting with the sound itself, which permeates the entire work. The care given to this record is equal to that of the previous one: wherever possible, we inserted small melodies, no longer than forty or fifty seconds, called Ponte, to give the illusion of a full day in Venice. I don’t like to make records just to meet contractual deadlines — I also want to offer a true path of pure conception for every new album to come.”
