When discussing fact checker, one must disclose who the fact checkers are. During the first Trump administration, approximately 90 % of the comments about Trump were negative. How could this be. Were the fact checker just deleting the positive comments that were for Trump?
All comments should be allowed raw and let the reader decide for himself whether they are factual or not. Perhaps facebook will reach a 50/50 split in the opinion category in the not too distant future.

To be fair, social media is (and never was) susposed to be a reliable source of information. I think it would be more effective to teach our kids not to belive everything you see online.

@DW: the title and thumbnail are pure misinformation. It's not the "fact checking" that is to be scrapped, it's the contract with the selective "fact checkers" that will be terminated. "Fact checking" is still very important and will be based on community notes à la X which has been working very well so far for both "sides".

Community notes is a far better, far better system. Why would you let extreme far left ideologues decide what is fact and what is it? How many times have they been wrong? I mean, I understand why they’re upset, they had narrative control, and they no longer will. But no one else should be upset about it. This is a good thing.

Ban Facebook, and META in EUROPE. Or demand that European Privacy, and anti-hate speech is moderated in Europe. That goes for ALL social networks. We should have our very own European social networks, and stop using anti-democratic US solutions. Boycott the US, but and create European platforms.

I'll be ditching my Facebook account as soon as I tell my friends, and I'll encourage everyone else to do the same. It's going to become another toxic Twitter, which people are deserting in droves.

Why social media still a thing ? And I was wondering when his Facebook ever going to shut down I'm sure it won't though. Deleted mine. But I can't delete my messanger though. Because when I'm about to deactivate it it doesn't have the continue to use messenger option 🤦‍♀️ I'm frustrated with that. It won't fully let me leave. the heavily left leaning media is just angry that their "truth" will now be challenged by other posts too. One sided information dripping is then ended (just remember the BS they did during Covid, folks!). We will get more crazy stuff for sure, but it also opens the doors for more information diversity. Only people will have to use their brains to weed out the truish stuff from the lies, it's not "curated" anymore (well, not like it used to). Misinformation was mostly done by the folks in charge, it was like that in the past 4 years and will probably go on. Just different kind of information now. Without the biased fact checkers there's the chance for good stuff to slip through though.

"Community notes" are better than "fact-check" companies. X has proven that this approach works better. Facts are still being checked, but in a different way; the more decentralized, the better.
