This is a stepping stone project, but as an Indian this is a new domain for indian researchers and it certainly not a success.
They put up the best feature of all western tanks and somehow come up with worst piece. Now it’s a liability in battle rather than asset. I won’t shy away in critiquing this tank,it is below average tank in terms of protection, mobility and gun performance. Idk how this happen.
I hope Indian researchers come from ground up design from scratch rather than hiring some models and parts from different tanks and patch up.

india as a country cant rely on one weapon system coz of varied terrain on himalayan ranges mobility helps you win , in jungle warfare stealth is a factor in desert since everything is slow firepower and protection play the key role.

Arjun was made in 1980s, the reason why it is heavy is because of it's armour. You see US was Pakistan's ally back in the days. India feared they would give them the M1 Abrams tanks.
